Not very happy with English, atm. Needs a cheering up. :'(

So, I just got my text response Cosi essay result back and I got a 40/50 (B) and me teacher went on about how she expected an A+ because all of my practices were really good and I'm just really, really disappointed. I doubt there is a chance of me getting a 40+ now as I have lost 26 marks altogether this year.   :'( :'( :'(

I just needed to vent.. and if someone else here is feeling crappy about English or just wants to rant, go ahead.

Your SAC mark is calculated through your ranking in the cohort, and how well your cohort does on the exam, not the actual amount of marks you have lost. Don't fret about it, it seems you performed to the best of your ability, and just try and do as well as possible on the exam, which is really what dictates whether you will get over 40 or not.

If you blitz the exam (54/60 or more), you'll get well into the 40s. Just know that and work towards it.

Yeah 2012 has been woven in disappointment o.O 3am and I'm on atarnotes 'cause I'd feel gulity sleeping when I could be studying. To put things into perspective, Felicity - 40/50 might be a B the way your teacher says it, but based on percentage that's an A+ on the exam. Three 8s would be a mark about 2011's cutoff :) There's  nothing stopping you getting a 40. The only limits you have are the ones you put on yourself. If you do your best on the exam, who knows what score you could get!

At my school 40/50 is an A, what am I missing!? The fact that your practice essays were worthy of an A+ shows your ability in english, and those skills will reveal themselves in the exam :)

:S That's just absurd. We don't get assigned a letter grade.

Wow. That's interesting. My school are just really harsh because a B+ is actually good but the label makes it seem like it isn't.

Most schools have the A+ mark at 90%. 96% is just a weird number to put for a grade, your 80% should be an A if that puts you in a better state of mind. Doesn't really matter how high they set the grade distributions, as long as you're performing well relative to the rest of your school.
