AN Chess?

Would anyone be interested in perhaps running a Chess tournament (online) or perhaps even just a group of people that play occasionally?
I'd say Chess.com would be the place, free live chess with modifiable times, blitz chess etc.
If we were to do a a tournament, I s'pose we'd thresh it out in the thread but I was thinking something along the lines of we agree on a uniform time limit and a number of rounds/finals(?) scored based on a point system (Win - 2, Draw - 1 each, Lose - 0) etc.
NB; this is more of an expression of interest and idea-threshing thread than anything else.

Also, inb4 Brenden is dominated and left in the wildy to die by the Math kids.

We could leave it at timed chess (5 or 10 minute games?) and have the tournament stretched out over a good couple of months, it should be manageable. If a tournament doesn't work, than quick casual games would also be neat.

I wonder if we could find something other than chess.com, where the software would be able to track our own AN leaderboards, scoring and so on automatically. At the very least, a 'friends' system where you can see the ranking between friends (rather than the entire server) would probably be good enough for that. (can 'chess.com' do that?)

If it gets enough interest i can make a subforum somewhere and set pairings and people can play in their own time and report the results

Chess.com doesn't do that.
Yeah I was thinking that. Chess for me would be 'down time' as a break from study. If there were 10 games going at once, for just one hour a week I thought it might be manageable. We could also communicate.

Taiga that would be the sickest. /hopes for interest.
If there's none we could always do it in Summer.

redhotpawn.com (i play there solely because of the name) is pretty good for this sort of thing. You can run a tournament etc.

Sounds legit!
This is exciting. AN Chess would be like the Chess League of Extraordinary Gentlestudents.

Anyone down for some chess right now? I'm bored out of my brains at work. Some chess would be killer.

I'll join in the chess tournament. Just not this week because I'm really busy with homework and SAC's.

I think the tournament is on a bit of a hold for now. Hopefully there will be more interest after exams. VivaT DID just give me a hiding though.

Awesome. Um, how exactly do I play against you, so far I've only played against strangers.
