What to buy in China?

In a couple of weeks time, I will be heading to China to study at a university funded by the DEECD and along the way.. we're allowed to buy things at some markets as well as at the shopping centres in China (Specifically in Beijing).

As the title suggests, I don't know what to buy in China or rather, what should I buy in China that I could use back in Australia.
I only know that I'm going to buy a watch and a new tie for myself but I would have too much 'yuan' leftover...
Oh and are headphones good in China? Because I was also planning to buy one over there but I came across this so I don't know what to get >.<

Nintendo 3DS and games (and/or illegitimate games - not endorsing) :D

Clothes are also really cheap when I went there (as is everything else) :)

If there's nothing much you really want to buy, then perhaps take the opportunity to talk to people around the shopping centres / markets and see if you can find anyone interesting to get into an interesting conversation with?

If only I could.. being Viet and not speaking Mandarin doesn't realy help  ::)
Nevertheless, I shall engage with the local people using my Australian English and chucking in bits of Mandarin when necessary to learn and discover things in China.

Unfortunately we're not :(
We're just in Beijing so we go to Forbidden Kingdom and Bird's nest etc.

Oh alright. So I'll update this thread after when I get back (which won't happen until October) or I'll update in China about the stuff I see/what you can buy in China. (So if they don't censor Atarnotes in China) ;O

Anything in particular you're looking for now so I can tell you the price of it when I update?

Not bad. I'll keep in mind to buy some shoes over in China as well :D

OMG WE'RE GOING TO THIS PLACE EXACT PLACE (Pearl Market)!!
My mum told me to bargain lower than 50% first off unless I can divide the price in yuan by 6.5~ to see how much the price is in AUD. Then I make a price when bargaining.

AND 'AN' ISN'T BLOCKED :D
That's one website I know I can go on when in China.
