2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the removal/reduction of defective alleles in gene pools?

1. DNA profiling gives info about differen alleles in a particular gene. Thus, it implies the level of genetic varations and the evolution relationships in human gene pool because there will be no evolution if there is no varation in the population

2. Advantages: removal of defective alleles prevents inherited diseases transmitted to the next generation in population. If they are recesssive, they can skip generations and the homozygous individuals will be affected
    Disadvantages: there may be genetic drift occurring due to a random event and the selective advantage can change.
In this situation, the defective allele may become the selective advantage and fitter than other alleles => removal of defective alleles may reduce the chance of survival as less variation in population
