Timed writing

I'm wondering whether I should attempt all passage analyses under a time limit from now on, or mix it up a bit? I'm behind in Literature and I haven't written many analyses recently; consequently, I've found that I struggle with a time limit and I'm not sure whether I'd be able to finish within the constraints at the moment. However it is not long until the exam and I want to be able to get comfortable with both the ideas I'm writing about and the time in which I'll have to write.

I'd say mix it up - get familiar with your ideas but aim towards timed. I wrote a few timed essays earlier these holidays but I really needed to work on exploring my concepts and style a bit more, so I have been doing untimed essays as well. Has your school made you do a prac exam yet?

I have to do one tomorrow which will certainly show how prepared (or unprepared) I am.

Ha! I had to tell them right at the end of writing time that they didn't give us paper.

I went alright with the time limit, I glanced over one of my passages for In Cold Blood at the start of reading time, then dedicated the rest of RT to Hamlet passages. From then on I spent about 50 or so minutes on Hamlet, gave about 10 mins for planning reading of In Cold Blood and the rest of that time I dedicated to In Cold Blood. I left about 5 minutes to myself just checking over both passages. That's my plan leading into the exam too, might make some slight adjustments, though.

I haven't had much time to prepare for it over the holidays, but the few passage analysis essays that I have completed I've made sure not to go write for over 70 minutes for each one.
