Genetics and the evolution of life (BIOL10005): Exam thread

Just wondering how everyone's approaching the exam in terms of studying.

I myself hate cramming so i've knocked out 7 lectures for the moment (genetics) and am memorizing 3 lectures every second day (plus trying to study 3 other exams at the same time because of my hectic exam timetable).

I hate zoology >.< so many terms!! Also (offtopic): practically failed the plant prac today :'(

I don't do this subject, but I envy your motivation and work ethic! I'm trying to begin exam preparation too but it's a bit of a struggle, getting started is the hardest part :@

Of course haha.

I'd start out by writing your own exam study timetable, i've made a calendar with the days i'll be studying certain lectures of subjects.

Also make a checklist of the lectures you have covered :D

Yeah I really need to write out a study timetable I think, at least it will keep me on task. But I really don't like using something this rigid it seems rather, well, lame... :P lol I like to try keep up with it myself, but I guess I really should do that.

Also memorising 3 lectures every 2nd day! :O GOOD JOB! Pat on the back for that :) Do you memorise the entire lecture slide? Like all the theory/definitions, questions/examples etc?

Lol not word by word. Just the key points, I mean for things like chemistry it's more like 30% memorizing, the rest is practice exams. Sometimes I think you just have to 'predict' what is going to be on the exam.

@El2012 So you just memorise the  key points from each lecture? How do you manage to do that? I don't think I could memorise every lecture.

How are you going to study for the Intercultural Communcation exam? Do you think anything from the guest lecturers will be on there?

No idea claireb, I just hope for the best and if i've learnt it before, like in high school or it's common knowledge there's not really much of a point in looking over and over that concept when I could look at new concepts.

Nah nothing like that sherpa lecture, I think it was more of an insight into ethnography of communication.

Ahh well.. if i actually were going to be doing summer subjects it would probably be biology. And i do hope it isn't , well, for any of my subjects actually!

And, Ummm.. your question confused me though - did you mean it seriously or going along with the joke of my predicted failure for the exams lol?

Ahh just bio in general - never really liked it - and when i say that, i refer to the genetics section. Each time i somehow get the strength to study the section on genetics I get this feeling of... suicide - best way i could put it. Never done bio in high school so yeah fun times!
