Shakespeare text on the exam?

Hey guys, I have heard from a few people that doing a Shakespeare essay can increase your chance of getting a higher mark for that section compaired to a more contemporary piece such as Cosi.
Is this true or not?

Cheers! :)

This is true, as at VCE level it is these texts are very difficult to go into significant depth into. Its depends on the strength of your cohort. I know Melb High (i think?) studies Henry IV, because everyone is pro at english. The examiners reward these pieces because they are harder to do and are only tacked by the higher calibre of english students.
Wish Richard III was still on the list though.

I'm not sure I entirely agree, because after all the work/talent/whatever required to get a 10 for your more contemporary texts should also be similar to what's required to get a 10 for Henry.  If as you say it's 'difficult' to go into depth, then it kinda contradicts what you're saying about getting 'easier' marks in other texts. Just my two cents.

Ahh okay then, we are studying Henry IV aswell and also have a strong cohort. I do enjoy/feel comfortable writting on Henry IV which suits me anyway but I just wanted to clear that up.
Thanks heaps! better start revising those quotes again!

12% of students wrote on Cosi for Section A last year, across the state. I'm sure that among those who scored a raw 50 a similar percentage would have studied this text.
