Most likely nope ( lost 1 mark in exam 1 aswell) and considering your rank, it really depends on how well the students ranked above you did in the exams (you are looking at 100% sac moderation, which is unlikely)
Generally its 40/40 and 59/60 for a chance to get a 50 + rank 1
Though with the score of 39/40 and 60/60 a 49 is a really high possibility (again, this may change by the performance of your cohort, especially those ranked above you)
I’d agree but considering his 95/100 puts him at such a low rank i’m guessing either he has a crazy strong cohort or SACs set were too easy. The Rank for 50 really comes down to cohort strength. Last year at my school our rank 1 only got a 48 yet 3 people below them got a 50 and another person got a 49. One of the 50s was a person I’ve personally talked to who said they averaged roughly 90% all year and were nowhere near the top 5 ranks.
What I suspect is when a cohort does well enough such that the top 10-15 ranks get close to or completely ace the exam, all of those students have their SACs moderated to near 100. Therefore, essentially all those students had an opportunity for a 50 despite not being rank 1.
So coming back to Popcorn’s question, I’d say they have a shot if the 20 student above them can come close to acing the exams. Otherwise it seems unlikely.
