Can anyone explain how biogeography provides evidence of evolution?

It shows similar species were once the same/closely related because of the continental drift idea, that the continents were once joined, however as they drifted apart they faced different environments hence different adaptations

Very weak but that's the general gist of it

bio geographical distributions of organisms is explained by continental drift, where related species are present in regions that were once connected (e.g. south america and west Africa). This provides evidence that allopatric speciation has occurred between such organisms, inferring the occurrence of evolution.
