Just wondering, if it's a necessity to mention in my essay at least once who is playing who eg. Terry Malloy played by Marlon Brando etc etc or could I just go the whole essay without mentioning the actor's names?

I've never seen an essay on OTW that mentioned the actors names... not a single one. My teacher never told us to, and i think at one point he suggested not to. I'm not going to, but maybe if you were referencing the emotion on a character's face you could mention the actor. But when discussing themes and characteres in general and the story, i don't think it's necessary. It certaintly would not detract from your marks if you didn't :)
