Did anyone notice in the second image that the customer appeared to be actually buying a tangible book (not an e-book or anything like that)? I giggled a bit there.
That was a deliberate persuasive technique :P It was meant to be hyperbolic.

Haha, too bad I didn't think to use it in my essay... didn't even pick it up as a technique! It appears I was indeed persuaded  :P

I thought it was perhaps too easy, harder to differentiate myself. Would have preferred 2011 LA (lol)
My LA started a bit shaky but improved as i went on. Hope it was not too bad

I think I went the other way! Started off really strongly and then lost momentum when I kind of lost sense of structure. Ah well.

Does anyone agree with what I said at all??  :-[
"I'm probably way off but I said the books were a symbol of being "in the past" because the book were behind the kid as he was absorbed in his new technology. A couple of subtle things I picked up on too. The name of the seminar "reading: the future" I noticed was a pun. Another I picked up on which I thought was subtle was her "attack on consumerism" first with the reference of the potato chips being, "soulless and empty (something along those lines) and also the the books being constantly revised/updated, as a ploy to maximise revenue (which also tied to the second image)."

nothings wrong in english, what you said seems pretty decent if you expanded upon it correctly. I said his back was to the books - ignorance, and that gave the implication he could 'push' the books over -> what this symbolises etc.

Ugh. I did a decent LA on tuesday, but nothing i was amazingly happy with. Planned to do one on wednesday but was worried it wouldn't be amazing and shatter my confidence...
Looking back maybe i should have done one last one anyway :|

I'm not happy with mine. Generally, I'm NEVER happy with my L.A but I usually get 7-8 for it so hopefully VCAA give me that for it. It was so shabby but I mentioned the audience with the techniques and finished it. Just going to remain hopeful.  ::)

I think so because it shows that you're unaware that it was a speech.

I alternated between audience, listener and crowd.

I wrote quite a bit about conventions of spoken language - this is a good thing, right?

As an ESL student, I think I did okay.  For L.A's 1st pic, if I mentioned about it showing a student holding a tablet/ereader with books behind him, suggesting that ereader is replacing printed books in society and his action of leaning against the books symbolised that many ppl are not relying on printed books anymore.  Is that okay?

The relying on books part was good, I didn't think of that. I'd say that is acceptable. I added stuff about the books towering over the dude and spoke about the shadow as well.
