Absolutely. Just study over the Research Methods chapter in the year 12 textbook over the holidays (can be done in term 1 but it's ideal to study it over the holidays because there will be SACs involving it) and that's the only thing you need to catch up on.

YESSSSS DEFINITELY!!! 

I picked up 3/4 without 1/2, and honestly, I didn't really need to know anything at all from 1/2 except for a bit of background knowledge on research methods, but trust me.. even that isn't really needed because research methods are pretty straightforward (and you can just go over it on the summer holidays, which most people do anyway)

I really recommend that you do 3/4, because it is actually the best! But do keep in mind that next year there will be no mid-years.. Nevertheless, some of the hard content has been taken off the study design, and I'm sure it'll still be just as good!!!

Tell them that there's only one chapter that carries over from 1&2, which can be studied over in the holidays so that once you've studied that you're on par with everyone else in the course. There's really nothing for them to 'warn against'.

You'll be fine. My sister is doing that next year and 2 girls in my current class have only done 3/4. You just need to work extra hard on research methods.
