C NMR

How many peaks are expected for C NMR for cyclohexanol, cyclohexan-1,2-diol, cyclohexan-1,3-diol and cyclohexan-1,4-diol?

I am thinking 3, 3, 4, 2.

Please help because initially, i managed to think of the spectrum correctly but doing it again, i got my answer wrong T_T.....

Cyclohexanol: 4
Cyclohexan-1,2-diol: 3
Cyclohexan-1,3-diol: 4
Cyclohexan-1,4-diol: 2

wow do we actually need to know the c nmr cylcohexane?
what about the H NMR of cylcohexane?
also what does the diol mean?

diol is two hydroxyl functional groups.

would someone please explain cyclohexanol for me please? haha i can only seem to identify 3 different carbon environments >.<

C1 is the C with the OH attached

C2 and C6

C3 and C5

C4

=> 4 different environments

y is C4 a different environment?

C3 and C5 both are attached to 2 hydrogens and are surrounded by 4 hydrogens. C4 is in that same configuration...

haha...is there meant to be some hidden catch with C NMR that my teacher left out? thanks again for the help. really appreciate it =] =] =]

The diol part reminds me of diacid..


so how do you name diacids? for example HOOCCH2CH2COOH, is it called butanoic diacid? or dibutanoic acid?

anyone?
