these are the questions 1) im doing on Russian Revolution and the two topic i have choosen are war communism and the new economic policy and i have to relate these, to the following question, have a historian quotes etc explain in detail

1) What measures did the Bolsheviks take in response to the challenges they faced from October 1917 to the early 1920s? this is clearly suggests that you need to explain what some of the fundamental challenges were. Focus on the two choosen topics (war communism and new economic policy. there will be a need in some cases to refer Breifly to others ie a discussion of the Kronstadt revolt without referral to the impact of War communism would be rather nonsensical. consider whether there was an overall trend in how the Bolshevisk responded to problems or brought about change.

2)How the bolsheviks revolutionary ideaology shape development or their responses to crisis? this palayed a significant role in shaping some events. sometimes events also accentuated ideology.

3) to wat extent did the measures taken by the Bolsheviks in consolidating their regime ultimately lead them to compromise their orginal revolutionary ideals? Think about what promised and what they delivered. to wat degree did the Bolshviks change Russian socirty? were there aspects of life or practices that were not unlike those that existed under the Tsarist regime?

THIS IS MY ESSAY I DID WHICH NEED MAJOR< REFINING!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM STUCK GUYSSSSS HELPP :uglystupid2: :uglystupid2:

Bolsheviks from a small party, created an easy to maintain and control and therefore having a person who has the desire and energy was essential  in there achievement which contributed a lot. Lenin a supporter of Marxism which affected the decision he made regarding the challenge that aroused. Russia was completely on a stand still due to war communism policy which created a lot famine and death. War commusim brought Russia to the ‘very edge of abyss” (Trotzky) where the NEP did the opposite.

When the October revolution came to an end, Bolsheviks worries did not end, in other words it just began. Bolsheviks goal was to get rid of opposition gain control of Russia no matter what the cost, either by support of the population or through suppression and violence, which is what occurred due to findings of the election where Bolsheviks acquired 175 seats and the leading party Socialist Revolutionaries got 370 seats. Bolsheviks was widely criticized for there ideas and theory in running Russia. An example of this would be, Lenin’s April thesis which was straight away declared as ‘the raving of a madman!’ by Menshevik Bogdanvoc. Bolsheviks acquired 175 seats because of there strategic planning and telling the people about the history of them, fighting against the Tsar and through propaganda. When power was obtained by the Bolsheviks they had mammoth problems and challenges that was in front of them,  the war against Germany that needed to be ended, at any cost because of there slogan peace, land and bread. The bigger problem for Lenin and the Bolsheviks was the civil war against the whites, which resulted in Lenin implementing War communism policy. Lenin a clever leader, decided this move would be the best, because of the fact how he wanted a win, win situation where not only he prevailed in the civil war but also implement what he believes in which is a bit Marxism. Historian and some Bolsheviks,  argue that its sole purpose was to win the war. Lenin, for instance, said that "the confiscation of surpluses from the peasants was a measure with which we were saddled by the imperative conditions of war-time." And historian Richard Pipes, have argued that War communism was actually an attempt to immediately implement communist economics and that the Bolshevik leaders expected an immediate and large scale increase in economic output.
Civil war ended and to the victory of the Bolsheviks, which would not be celebrated as to end of there problems but that victory came with a price, famine and death Between 1918 and 1920, Petrograd lost 75% of its population, whilst Moscow lost 50%. Which was by 1921 9.5 million people had died from famine. In Russia the sailors in Kronstadt mutinied. Lenin faced the very real risk of an uprising of workers and peasants and he needed to show the type of approach to the problem that the tsarist regime was incapable of doing. In February 1921 Lenin introduced the new economic policy, because of the an Idealist leader he was, to his surprise he was impressed with the effect it had on Russia, In October 1921, Lenin admitted that there could be no going back to the limitations imposed by the view of War Communism. “We are in desperate straights. We must buy from whom we can and we must sell to whom we can. The party would have to learn to trade.”
As mention on this text which covers with the two policies which were made by the Bolsheviks party and how their ideals shaped their responses to the challenges

By implementing war communism policy, Marxism being the main ideology of the Bolsheviks in dealing with civil war, which responded to the ideologies of the communist but left the country in ruin by 1921. As historian Richard Pipes, argued that War communism was actually an attempt to immediately implement communist economics and that the Bolshevik leaders expected an immediate and large scale increase in economic output. War commusim brought Russia to the ‘very edge of abyss” (Trotzky) the Bolsheviks feared a rebellion and a overthrow of the government which was already demonstrated in the kronstadt uprising. This Fear and the misery in Russia lead Lenin to introduce the NEP. Where he described it as ‘bridled capitalism’ The NEP succeeded in creating an economic recovery after the devastating effect of the first world war, the russian revolution and the Russian civil war. Both policies had the intention to save communism in Russia.
