Its what happens when you get a bunch of retired history teachers on the exam panel sourcing their images on google :D

I heard that students will not be penalized for marks in this section of the exam.
But what does this entail? Does this simply mean that students won't gain or lose marks for this section?

VCAA explains it a bit on their website: http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/Pages/news/newsitem2.aspx.

The VCAA will ensure that all students who completed this section of the examination will not be disadvantaged.

We will monitor students’ responses and our Chief Assessor will review any responses which refer to, or are affected by the altered part of the image.  Students will not be penalised for discussing this, all responses will be treated fairly.

The VCAA will also apply statistical methods to monitor whether each student’s performance on Section B Question 1 was consistent with their performance across all other questions to ensure that no student has been disadvantaged.

Yeah, I heard some people actually did mention the robot, though I'm not sure how many.

After all, my friends who did History tell me that an important part of interpreting images is analysing every aspect and detail.

I know at least one person who did (not at my school though).

Everyone was just shaking their heads - the VCAA has 'shafted' students (cough, Language Analysis 2012, cough)on a few occasions. But I like the VCAA for their assessment reports haha.
