TSFX vs. NEAP

Okay guys,
Give me the verdict. I'm considering doing the weekly group tuition classes at either TSFX or NEAP for Chemistry 3/4 in 2013. BUT I've heard mixed reviews, especially some negative things about a certain Irena? I just want the best thing possible to give me the education that will maximise my results and give me that special edge I need for a 45ish study score. ALSO I'm considering doing either NEAP or TSFX for their "Summer School" lectures, also for which I've heard mixed reviews about. This is why I'm asking for an honest review to help me make a decision because I would really hate to regret a decision in Y12/

For Chemistry 3/4,

For Summer School/Revision lectures, TSFX for sure (Side-note: I don't know who told you that she is bad, BUT Irena IS AWESOME!!!!!!); NEAP's summer school is pretty much only a summary AND they don't go into detail as much as TSFX AND NEAP's summer school notes are quite short

For weekly classes, I recommend NEAP 100% ; having experienced both companies, for science, I enjoyed NEAP the most (if you do decide to go to NEAP for Chemistry, Faye Jeffery IS A MUST!!!!!) --> I find TSFX is more question-oriented (i.e. they will bombard you with so many questions that I got soooooo bored) while NEAP will actually explain concepts in so much detail, give you REALLY challenging questions (that you do in class) and at the end of their notes you get homework with detailed solutions... I had another girl in my NEAP class as well, who also went to TSFX before for science, AND we both agree that NEAP's weekly classes (at least for science subjects) are better... [However, for maths subjects, TSFX weekly classes are better IMO; it was funny cause we had Spec at TSFX in the morning THEN we both had to dash across town for NEAP in the afternoon but it was worth it ;)]

Though I must reiterate, I must admit I never really tried the other teachers at NEAP, BUT I really really really recommend Faye Jeffery for Chemistry (she's also the author of the NEAP study guides)

So... my verdict:

Summer school= TSFX
Weekly classes= NEAP

Irena is terrible, I only went to her from chem, but she waffles heaps, keeps bragging about TSFX/her materials, isn't very interactive, isn't great at answering student questions after the lecture, apparently has put down Thushan's book during a lecture, and has a very vague concept of time.

Just wondering, can anyone else give a testimonial for Neap vs TSFX on the intensive programs for other subjects such as methods and physics?
Which would be better for Physics and Methods, Neap or TSFX?

Wow, thank you for the mini-essay. I really appreciate this, because companies can advertise everything but you don't really know how good it is until you experience it firsthand. Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely consider NEAP for weekly chem, and TSFX for summer school + revision at the end of the year. ALSO is the "winter" school before Unit 4 worth it at TSFX??? And if I were to do the NEAP weekly classes where is it held? Thankyou again, that reply was everything I expected and more  :D

ALSO, can anyone tell me what Summer School lecture is preferable for Methods (CAS)? TSFX. vs NEAP? And should I go to any English Summer School lectures or not. I know english is a subject that has to be down to the individual to get the marks rather than learning content so I'm tossing up on a Summer School program for english

Probably don't go for English, a tutor would be more helpful

From what I hear, TSFX is better for summer school in mathematics subjects.
Similar to above, it's taught by Irena (TSFX), Neap does summarize the course and both companies give details on the types of equations and rules that you will be faced with in 3/4 Methods.
But I also hear they are pretty good - both companies notes are really good.
In my opinion, I think TSFX would be better. They're just a bit cheaper (Unless you want to go to their repeat lecture as well.)

English Summer School, from feedback - I hear is hardly worth it from both companies.
Simply because a private tutor would be more beneficial to you in English rather than these companies, because lets face it... they don't know how good you are at writing essays and won't mark them.
But English Summer School I hear isn't entirely non-beneficial, you do look over course content and have an idea of what is awaiting you next year in English.
 ;D

TSFX English Summer School is very very bad. Even the notes were poor imo.

Over the Summer, I went to this and it was amazing -> 2012/13 Summer English Workshops (5 50s; 99.95; Dux MHS 09)
