I think it's fair because some subjects esp. languages scale unreasonably high. And if scaled scores aren't taken in to account, then fewer students would get a Premier's, which makes the award more prestigious. (am I going too far?)

Actually, I think you're right. What made me post that before? Probably the not-enough-sleep effect. Sorry!  :-[  :-[  :-[

 *facepalm*

But on second thoughts, how do they pick out the highest five in a subject like English where there are so many perfect scores? Do the examiners have a meeting or something?

Wait sorry I was mistaken, I was referring to the Australian student prize XD seems like lack of sleep is getting to the both of us!
Premiers is top 5 in each subject, for English, I dunno, apparently they look at sac scores? If even those are the same, maybe they read the essays?

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense.

Aargh. I'll go to sleep so I don't mislead anybody else and please do as well.

I'm fairly sure that one of the people who got the award for Systems Engineering last year got a 49, it depends on the number of people who do the subject.

Its definately not only top 5. For larger subjects like English it will be more than 5, but for subjects with less students it may be less than 5.

Anywhere from 1-10 as far as I'm aware. Which does make it easier to get it in smaller studies
