At the moment I can't decide between doing a Science degree at Monash or a double degree at La Trobe. Im not really set on a set career pathway at the moment hence why im considering a double degree to keep my options open but have been kinda put off by people's opinions/views on La Trobe when comparing it to Monash. Any thoughts would be appreciated?? :)

From a prestige point of view, I'd go science at monash. The course itself is supposedly excellent, offering a generalized science background. However saying that though, science/arts would give you a heap more flexibility, do you have any career ideas that would correlate with either course?

Career ideas.....Hmmm not really, nothing too specific. At the moment I just really want to keep my options open and thats why I like the idea of doing a double degree

Well then my personal opinion is it would be better to do arts/science. You could choose many interesting electives in both courses which could give you insight into a particular area that you may want to go into in regards to employment. Good luck  :)

Ever thought about doing a science degree at Monash first, enrol in units of science that you need for an art/science degree, then transferring at the end of the year?

This is probably the best option if you want to go to Monash.

Why not do science or arts at melbourne uni? you can do the other as breadth subjects. That way you still can keep your options open.
