Out of interest, are people starting to think of what they would put as VTAC preferences?

Yeh. I actually have already put some ideas into a practice preference list already. Seems as though Arts/Law @ Monash is going to go first for me. Then a whole lot of backups e.g. arts @ monash, deakin law etc.  Anyone else got any ideas?
Yeah, I have about 26 courses printed out.

Just on that, does anyone know why the VTAC course option for Year 12 has been seemingly removed from the home page?

Is this just a problem on my computer? Is there a way I can search for courses still through VTAC?

Thank you!

VTAC 2015 course guide is online, this is the best document, it has everything. http://www.vtac.edu.au/pdf/publications/vtacguide2015.pdf

BTW for people interested in law, there is a 90% chance Swinburne is going to offer LLB for next year, although it's not officially advertised yet, but it's highly likely the faculty would be ready in time for next year. (I have contacts ;) )

On another note are you guys going to schoolies?

I think I'm going to book either in Byron or Gold Coast next week when I organise a few people to come. Seems really shit that you can't have someone in basically all of the buildings from that schoolies.com website unless they have a certified I.D. I don't know how you can have fun otherwise without that significant one night other :) :(

I highly doubt that ID rule is enforced with much rigour, I've never been on schoolies before so can't guarantee it though.

My mates and I tried hustling a spot near Cairns/Sorento/Surfers but most accommodation have been already been booked or are really overpriced. Let me know how your booking goes!

Right.
That's a thing I was supposed to do a long time ago.
Is it a problem that I have some vague idea(s) but no concrete plan?

I keep forgetting to look into that. Does anyone know a website or a way to start looking into some beach houses where schoolie kids go? I'm fairly certain that Rye is cleared out at this point.

Pretty sure they get taken down until VTAC opens up for 2015 School Leaver applications in August.
You can search for courses through CourseLink on the VTAC website.

I'm going on Schoolies. I'm staying at Mantra Lorne with my best school friend and another friend from school. Another group from school who we are all good friends with are going too, so it should be fun.

In terms of preferences, I'm thinking Occupational Therapy at ACU followed by Nursing at ACU. Hang all the sh*t you want about ACU's reputation not being as good as Monash or Melbourne but Occupational Therapy at Monash is at Peninsula or I'd have to drive to Bundoora and I don't really want to spend all my savings on a car and petrol because it's a considerable distance to drive from my place and I'm not in a financial position where I could move out. ACU's reputation for health is quite decent anyhow, so judge me all you like. I think for something like Occupational Therapy or Nursing, it's more how you use the knowledge and become the best health professional you can, rather than good employment opportunities coming from where you went to Uni.

Psychology and Economics will contribute of course. I try as hard (or as easy) with Psychology as all my other subjects but I just can't get the knack of answering questions; I know all the information but fail at application for some reason. Economics I'm good at but my teacher buys SACS from some unheard of company which are just made for revision not really SACS, and modifies them not around the study design but what is learnt in class, and I've stressed how I can't focus at school on this forum. So I think I will do well in the exam but my SACS have gone terribly. 88% and 100% worth 40 marks, then I got about 60% out of 30 marks and I will probably get 5/30 for the recent SAC which I knew everything to do with study design, but nothing was even relevant. So my GA's will be terrible, but I can answer VCAA answers with ease.
Out of curiosity which company does your teacher source your Eco SACs from?

This really says enough. If you were fully serious about a career in business then you'd take the opportunity to go one of the world's best universities and do a BCom there.

I need to learn how to properly quote because it's killing me answering it like this!!!

I would love to go to ANU if it was located in Melbourne. Everything is in Melbourne. I have a family here. I have my pets here which are pretty much like children to me; when I go away on holiday I start envisaging 7 days into it what my dogs are doing and how badly I want to be back with them - I think I have some weird pet homesickness kind of thing, but just sad. 5 (double degree) years away from home and two of them would probably have passed and I just can't not be there for them .. it may seem weird but I'm weird like that.

The business I want to get in is non-traditional, something creative such as advertising. In Melbourne I can always have the outlet of nepotism to fall back on, leaning on my parents for an internship for experience for that resume that I have with 3 nothings on it. Despite your defence for Canberra, I've been there a few times and it just isn't really a place I would like to call home. Like aforementioned, the creative side of business that I want to get into is almost non-existent there in Canberra. I also am planning on creating a low-cost start up after schoolies with my friend here in Melbourne and already have the business plan all written out, and despite the likelihood of failure, hands on experience would be fantastic.

I probably should have written it earlier on but like I've said multiple times in this post, I want to go into non-traditional business. A business degree doesn't enclose you into a single business which is why it is so great - there are so many things to choose from it's unreal. Marketing and Management give you a set of desirable skills in a business which puts you on the forefront of a screening process for when a job comes up when your mid 20's. Sure not straight out of graduation its unlikely you'll become a manager, but a degree for me at least is about the big picture.

I'm a member of whirlpool and have posted on a few threads to-do with education, and despite quite a few posters probably being quite ill-informed they responded with answers like ensure you attend a G8 university or else you'll always be second. When I was previously saying attend a G8, that came from mainly actual businessmen and not whirlpool, but yeah with polarisation, a few said G8.

Most likely the RMIT person would get the gig. However, as you said, there are always more than two and often than not only one job on offer in particular businesses. Coming second to none in all areas such as skills, charisma etc. all contribute to getting a job, but so does a degree and it would suck constantly being rejected by coming second. But in an area that I am more knowledgeable on, in the field that I want to get into like I said, it is almost imperative that you have the uttermost highest credentials and everything else that makes an employee great because the competition is huge in comparison to the scarce positions available. Looking at the big picture I want to be a business owner doing something creative that I love, but I also wanted to get a 99 ATAR at the start of this year so I always have to consider the possibility that I'm being naive.

Not to mention I am committed. I've fucked up VCE I admit that but it is mainly because I take no interest in it regardless of how important it is supposed to be. With Legal Studies there is a chance that I will get a 45+ and if I don't I will be incredibly disappointed. With Global Politics I believe that I'm in position for a 40+ but at my school some kid got 100% in every SAC and did shit in the exam due to my schools lead up to it and got a 32, or at least that was the reason and it was the highest mark; but I still believe I can do well. English I'm terrible at mainly due to lack of effort, not reading the set novels and not asking questions even when I don't know how to write a 'whose reality' essay; I wrote a story about a game for my last SAC because I was just that puzzled on what to do. With all that being said, I have drive to succeed and do well in Business; most of my should be studying or working in class time I basically sit there imagining what life will be like 10 years down the track, how I'm going to achieve that, and then ponder business ideas, consulting with people about business plans etc. so really I just want the best for myself, regardless of how much of a clusterfuck I've gotten myself in. All this convoluted verbose bullshit was in response to the first thing you said, I lost track of this quoting system.

arts at melbourne is my first preference, then beneath that is really vague. maybe journalism at rmit or something.
la trobe is like within walking distance from my house, but i'm not really interested in their courses for the most part. i'm considering arts/law there though, so that's an option. idk, uni stuff is hard.

i'm most likely romanticising uni a bit, but i seriously can't wait to get out of high school haha.

Myself and eleven close friends have booked a house on the mornington penninsula for schoolies. Two weeks at the beach with an amazing group is hard not to look forward to.

As for preferences, there is around 18-20 courses I am particularly interested in. I have already put them in order from 1 to 12 twice. Once based on highest ATAR first, the other my actual desires. Either way, 1st preference for myself is currently at Monash.

Can you see the issue here?
In that context yes. They were two separate kinds of commitment. To VCE I am not very committed. Also in the creative field my dad hires people and pretty much has told me requirements to get into such a field. You need to have a shining resume, suitable qualifications and ensure you rock up to the interview with the red sneaker effect.

Some times you need to get out of your comfort zone. In the early 80s my dad left his family behind in Nigeria to get his degree in Manchester, at a time where his people were seen as public enemy number one.
Btw it did him a lot of good, he matured extremely quickly. And nothing is stopping you from bringing your lets along. I don't mean to be offensive but you may need this opportunity because from your recent posts i am given the assumption that you are spoilt.

Nice.

I haven't exactly 'ordered' my preferences, needles to say I should do this, but I have more than a rough idea.

The first 7 or so I certainly know. It's just that bottom 5 I have to be selective of.

My first preference is Arts at Melbourne Uni based solely on ambition and no real realism, my careers teacher was explaining to me that if the Uni Fees increase there it could detract potential students. Maybe even myself... My friends think I am underestimating myself, but if one is doing so bad at Further Mathematics then you cannot afford to play with fire.
