Your teacher is awesome. I wouldn't call it clear. He just wrote on some things like 'define the origins of the American Dream' or he wrote out his interpretations of the prompt without really telling me what he would do beyond that, just ideas which don't make much sense. :( Oh well I can only do my best, I'm happy enough just completing year 12.

That's tough - so you don't have clear direction as to what are the key areas you need improvement in? How's your structure? Construction? Relevance?

There's so many different things - I doubt that you would get an 11/20 simply for ideas problems - seems highly irregular...

What texts are you studying?
2014 - English (50, Premier's Award)| Music Performance (50, Premier's Award) | Literature (46~47) | Biology (47) | Chemistry (41) |  MUEP Chemistry (+4.5)  ATAR: 99.70

2015 - 2017 Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc)
2017 - 2021 Doctor of Medicine (MD)

We had a second english practice exam at school today - for people who wanted the practice which I thought was a really good idea.

My teacher is now marking 87 Essays tonight so he can hand them back to us tomorrow so we have them for the week-end

What an absolute boss.

Bless. I gave my teacher a whole exam today and he said it will be ready to be picked up by tomorrow. So much for the whole "you need to allow three days for marking" that the English coordinator told our whole year level at the end of last term.

Some of my friends gave essays in last week to other teachers and they still haven't got them back yet.

Get so depressed when I see all your posts :P.

My teacher marks none. He really gets annoyed when we hand essays in, and even if we do he never hands them back -.-''. Before SACS + exams he always complains with his workload and etc, fair enough, but he chose to become a teacher and he really sucks at being one.

Really lucky I have a pretty good tutor who gives good feedback, or else I would have been fked for engish, I mean, what's the point of writing essays when you don't get feedback??

Anyway, hope everyone's preperations are going well.

And am I the only one that's not doing purely english?? I've done one full exam and a bit of conflict revision today. Apart from that, I've done a mid year chem and am planning to do physics + methods to end the day ....

We're doing Maus for English and it's really difficult. It's the first time a graphic novel has ever been included on the text list so none of us really know what to write as far as structure etc goes. I didn't fancy doing Twelve Angry Men on its last year (aka difficult prompts and hard markers).

I feel you. I'm just doing a text response plan per day (going to do a context plan in a moment), and then other study as needs be. Did an Accounting exam today ^^;

Found out what was going on with English! Turns out she sent me feedback, but our messages system isn't working, so I didn't get the feedback and she didn't get the (many) messages I sent with questions + asking for meetups. Going to leave her my personal email tomorrow so we can get rid of our buggy school intranet.

@Reus, lol, this is me -_-'' seeing everyone here and I'm just like "uhhhh, i drew a thing?" :P
Seriously though, I feel so unproductive now compared to last term. Apparently that's common for students who do 2 or more folios, but man...

@Fareseru - AW MAN JEALOUS. I wanted to study that so baaaaad.
2013 : Philosophy (31) | VCE VET Hospitality (Kitchen Operations) (31)

2014 : Food Tech (40) | Accounting (35) | Art (39) | Visual Communication Design (40) | English (38) [hopefully!!]

Does anyone else feel like when amount of time spent studying increases, that food consumption also increases?

It's an absolutely amazing novel but it just isn't easy to write essays on. Mainly because there are three narratives occurring simultaneously (Character A in WW2 Poland, Character B discussing those experiences with Character A and Character B then writing the novel in the novel).

Just wrote a response but ATARnotes went on a go-slow and it didn't send through. The text is War Poems. I did Literally Lauren's original practice exam and the prompt was like 'Owen's poetry is full of echoes' or something like that. He went on about Echoes meaning the past life and worlds transformed and allusions to offer ideas/works which is slightly relative to the poems, the world one isn't unless he means it metaphorically. I interpreted it to mean that Echoes were underlying statements that came through Owen's poetry, like how he set out to expose the atrocities of the war and through this imagery tried to warn and deter future generations from initiating war, stuff like that. So I get the lowest tick with regards to response to question, and second highest tick between medium and high for analysis of texts and quality of writing which equalled 11/20 somehow.

For Language Analysis I got 13/20 and everything was medium except one that I got lowest for not using metalanguage and having bad structure. I read a lot of high scoring pieces that didn't mention any techniques so I followed that path, but he said you have to mention techniques with everything, like 'he appeals to blablaa' or 'he uses a rhetorical question to blablaa' when I was focusing more on what they did, the effect/emotion and the change in behaviour as a result. So yeah then he asked if I knew the formula for language analysis i said no and said the examiners report said not to use formulas then he said i don't believe it I've always taught this way, and then printed me out a formula. so yeh, gutted.

Head up. From the essays I've read of yours, they're much better than mine. And I'm aiming for a 30-35 in english, so if YOU get below a 35 I'd be quite surprised. Sounds like your teacher isn't really fit for the job tbh.

I emailed my english teacher the other day saying how every essay I wrote is worse than the last - pretty much ranting and complaining. He replied saying throughout the year I've demonstrated an understanding and an ability to write - feeling much more confident now :)

I wrote 4 lit essays in the past week because my teacher wanted to get me to actually do stuff. Went to class today and he went through one page of one with me and said redo. Asked if he wanted to mark my others and he said no. Sooo.

:D Thanks for that. My dad was saying the same thing about him but it was the only feedback I was going off so it kind of sucks. :)

I haven't gained weight, but I just eat healthy stuff all the time.
Carrot sticks, almonds, bananas, apples, green smoothies, yoghurt. You name it and it has most likely been a study food throughout the year.
