i30 is fast. I forget what it's valled but when my friend modified the air intake on the car the performance improved dramatically compared to stock. I also drive it manually and shift gears close to red line when I'm racing. It's faster than most other cars. My i30 model does 0-100 in 7.1 whilst veloster turbo does it in 7.7. Speed is also not the twain I got it, it was for safety and it was a perk.
if you've modded the car then that's illegal for you to drive...whilst ~7 seconds is okay (much faster than I assumed for an i30  :o ) that isn't fast lol, you clearly haven't driven fast cars before

Also, why you decided to mod the air intake on a 2014 car baffles me.

personally I like the look of the veloster but you probably don't :P a lot of people hate it which is fair enough

as for the safety argument, yes, newer cars = better technology = safer etc. But a lot of people don't really care about safety features...they're willing to sacrifice that to buy an older car, r34s, s15s, supras, FTO, Celica? idk and just work on it because they like to. A young family on the other hand would prefer a safer, newer car like an i30 or some SUV. Different people want different things.

Plus not everyone can afford a 2014 i30 or have their parents pay for their car. 90% of red P platers I know have a second hand car worth less than 10k

Or a car that takes you from A to B...

Guys I'm thinking of buying a car, any suggestions?
This is legit my priority right now. not too fussed about speed/safety on my Ps, but rather something that won't cost $18490218401284 for fuel lol.
If you're looking for a first car that's relatively cheap, reliable, fuel efficient then go for lancer!
You can get one for 5-10k, i'm considering getting one atm!

Wrong i30 received best car of the year award for under $35k twice. Accolades vs you :) I'll defend my car until I wrap it around a pole
best car of the year award is judged holistically. If you're arguing that it is the 'best car' holistically, based on price, features, etc. then yeah fair enough. But there are at least 10 cars I'd choose over an i30 based on looks alone. plus hyundai's depreciation is a bitch :p

ofc if you are on the level of swagsxcboi only a merc will do  ;D
pls that's my mum's car  :'(

Mmm you guys should've been for a ride with the orthopedic surgeon who randomly came around the other day, he has a customized GT3 RS... 0-100 in 3.5s... Not the fastest, but considering he has it in a random country town  ;) ;)

I've drove my dads Mercedes AMG whilst on my L's, and I drove my dad's boss's Aston Martin Vanquish from Melbourne to South Australia. I know what a fast car is. I'm comparing it to the class of vehicle. I have my L's for motorcycles as well and I've been on LAMS bikes that get from 0-100 in 5.1 seconds. So don't be pretentious and tell me what I don't know.
My friend is trying to become a mechanic and is obsessed with cars and modded my air intake because the stock filter was shit. Asides from making it faster, it also made it so much louder and gives it a grunt. May be a bit weird to see a hatch back roaring down the road but it's really fun to listen to and drive when I'm driving like a nut.
The veloster just looked like a stretched i30.
I'm aware people are willing to sacrifice safety features for other things that entice them in a car. I originally said that I didn't because I'm was just starting to drive on my own.
My parents loaned me half of the payment car and I paid for the other half, and I'll be paying them back for the other half once I get a job as I paid out every cent to my name. That was the agreement. I'll probably end up selling the car in 3-4 years time and get a Subaru BRZ or 370z.

Regardless of what your friend did to it, you bought a girly car. That won't change until you sell it and buy something a little meatier. Plus the fact that your parents paid for it (and you paid for half with money that you never earned seeing as you've 'never had a traditional job') makes it 100x worse. You said that you got it for safety when in reality bigger cars are much safer, regardless of stupid statistics that prove that its airbags inflate when you hit something. You also randomly brought up its speed to prove that hatches are fast when they aren't. Give up ;)

If you really think an AMG (C63 exception) or Vanquish's are fast cars, I'm not going to bother. LOL.
Try a Caparo T1. 0 to 100 in 2.6 seconds :)

LOL get rekt
you bought a girly car.
I wasn't going to say it but since it's out there... If you've driven your dad's AMG and an aston then why on earth would you buy a hyundai seriously  ???

I'm not being pretentious, it's just your ignorance baffles me  ::)
If you've driven AMGs, Astons, 0-100 in 5.1 seconds on a bike (which feels considerably faster than in a car) then how on earth do you think that your i30 is fast 0_0  logic? not even once

fair enough that your parents can pay for half your car, but not a lot of people have that luxury.

I rate both BRZs and 350/370z, solid cars

Haha yeah I mean obviously they do exist, but they have nothing to do with us discussing whether or not hatches for normal people are girly cars ;)
