Agreed ! This doesn't seem to be going very well..guess everyone's moved on haha
I haven't moved on guys!!! People just stopped responding as much so I gave up posting... There's not really any other reason for me to come on here. I guess I can give some advice to people, but other than that there isn't much incentive. Plus I hate being reminded of the horror that was year 12 (90% horror, 10% rainbows and unicorns ;) ).
I think anna.xo means most of us have moved on from VCE. I'm think we just need stuff to talk about to keep this discussion flowing haha

Yeah I've moved on from VCE. I know that it was a part of my life and bla bla, but I'm glad that it's over. And yes, we do need other stuff to talk about... this thread really won't have any purpose otherwise. I think it'd be great if we all kept a casual chat going here for this year as we start at uni/find work/whatever. You're a great bunch of people and I miss chatting with you all!

i dont think tutoring will get you into a select entry school if you wouldnt get in otherwise.
all the tutoring might do is it might push you up from getting just into schs/nossal and squeeze you into a principals discretion at mhs/macrob. it really doesnt substantially help you. heaps of people i know who were naturally not too smart came to hendersons with me and didnt get in, and i know heaps of smart people who did absolutely nothing and just smashed the exam LOL
so if he isnt too keen on your tutoring id say to let it be, especially considering he is doing work at the other tutoring places

Exactly ! I just feel that people no longer consider year 12 a part of their lives, which is completely fine, but it would still be good to talk to each other

Agreed on all points. We just need to keep casual chat going..about anything. And I second the last sentence of this post ! :)

Thank you everyone!!!

So basically tonight I had another go, got him to write up one creative piece and one argumentative piece (no timing). Went into his room after 20 minutes and he was there watching a movie on his tablet LOL.

I've told my parents that I'll no longer be behind his back asking him to do homework or any other work for preparation for the exam. And will only be willing to tutor him if he himself comes to me and asks for help.

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

You should definitely try not to push him as this might even discourage him. I remember before year 12 I didn't do anything but then all of a sudden I was serious about my education and was really motivated to do well. I'm sure when the time comes, your brother will start working hard because he wants to :)

Yeah thanks for that! And that's actually exactly what I'm doing. I've told my parents not to ask him about anything related to his studies, kinda using that reverse psychology thing Zezima mentioned above. Hopefully he can just suddenly realize by himself and start studying! Hope it works out!!

Damn, miss when this thread used to be active as hell :'(

Anyway..I know a lot of people here come from the west side which I hope means travel to the city a lot.. :P

Do people know any fun things to do in the city when it's raining ? So something indoors ? And preferably not too expensive cause I'm still broke haha. I have 3 friends that I'm catching up with next week and they all want to go to the city -.-
Ideas would be really great !

These holidays are changing me lol. I've gotten so lazy. And I've been sleeping at roughly 4-4;40am and waking up at 1 pm. Turning into a sloth. Need a job quick T T (yes I'm still looking for one =.=).

Yeah I really agree with this.  Try not to work him too hard too early on.

I remember I only started trying in school when I hit Year 11 and before that I just played video games all day. I completely missed the selective school entry test (didn't try it) because I didn't care about school. But looking back I think it was all okay because I peaked in effort at the right time.

I've been overseas for the last three weeks so I've been having a good break. Though, once I come back I will still need to figure out what to do for the rest of the 6 weeks before uni starts. I'm thinking tutoring might be fun. Also, offers are coming up soon! Hopefully it all goes well for you guys.
