Show us your Study Space

I was contemplating whether to put this into general discussions or VicEd discussion, but I believe it should stay here because this area is where we spend the (vast) majority of our time studying so I think it would be beneficial to share our spaces and share our ideas as to what makes a good study space.

Post a picture of your Study Space or just post your tips on what makes/made you study more efficiently and productively.

Here's mine: Better view without monitor

With the monitor and my puppy :)

Basically, it's an L shaped table with two drawers.. In the middle where the chair is, is where I sit. Pretty much center towards the whole table. I have my MacBook and all the connectors (Power, External Display, Powered USB Hub, External Audio) situated in the middle. So when I put my MacBook there, I can grab all the cables and pop them in quick and easy :).

One side is longer than the other as you can see. The longer side is where I actually do the work. I use the iPad for most of my text books (I have reasons for why I don't use that other screen, more on that later) and I have space for my pencil case and what ever books I want to use. Plenty of space, nice to study.

The other side pretty much has nothing on it. I like to leave it this way because some day, there will be some stuff that just needs to go there. Posters and stuff like that. Plus it's nice to have an empty space, dunno why.

I have a set of Logitech X-530 speakers, but I've only connected the front 2 speakers and the Subwoofer because the other 3 won't be usable for music, which is their primary purpose. I love listening to music while I study, I listen to music that has little to no lyrics so it's less distracting. For those who care, I listen to Progressive Trance and House as well as Trance and House themselves. It's very relaxing and calming. I love it.

I also have a that secondary display there too. The reason I have that there is so I can display secondary data on a bigger screen that also won't take up as much space as my notebook would if I were to turn it around and what not.

For example, now I'm doing Chemistry (as always :P) so I have the worked solutions and top and the periodic table on the bottom. The reason I don't put the textbooks on there is that; 1. The screen is rather large so reading lots of text requires a bit of head and eye movement. Sounds like pure laziness at first, but give it a try. It isn't very pleasant. Also, for those who also care.

The iPad has the retina display, which basically means that it has a high pixel density. So basically, if I were to put a 1cm2 square, on the iPad and the iMac, there will be more dots that make the image, on the smaller iPad than the big monitor. This makes reading text easier for me. Sorry that last bit bored you, I promise I won't do it again. :)

Other than that. The top draw has all my workbooks for each subject in it, the drawer below is empty and will most likely take the role as my rubbish bin. The little section on top of that is where all my school new letters, detention notices (:P) go. :)

Oh it's a tough year, my puppy will be there for moral support :)

I like this area because it's very clean and simple, for me. It's got everything I need, I never need to leave this space for anything really.

I'm impressed.

Personally I would prefer some wall shelving where the picture is hanging, for all the bulky stuff like ring binders etc.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into it. Bookshelves just take up too much space for what I throw in them so a wall mounted bookshelf might be a sensible idea.

Wow, that's a really good study space! I'll try to upload a picture of my desk for you, but I'm very technologically impaired, so I might not know how to...

Large desk with plenty of room to work. Lots of room in the 4 draws. The laptop is where I do my serious work. The tablet (Nexus 7) is for portability. However I prefer physical textbooks, and a transparent clipboard is a must have.

TV which I use to watch the news / play 360. Can easily connect the laptop to it.

Not really hahaha.. The MacBook is well, a Macbook. iPad, heaps of people have these days. And that monitor has been here for like 6 years!!! So instead of throwing it in the bin, I just used it here. You can get these for $100 these days I think.

It's really just about utilising what you have already. I didn't buy any major things just for my studies. I traded my iMac for a Macbook (paid a bit extra), table we had from a room we don't use, the monitor as I said was used ages ago for one of our old computers. iPad was just bought for the family, you can't really reason an iPad, you don't need one.. you want it :P

Of course, that's not to say I'm incredibly fortunate to have such facilities though. I don't need all this, it just makes it easier, and when stuff is just sitting there, why not use it :)

Haha ok fair enough. Utilize what you have!

On a different note, don't you get distracted by all the technology around you. Like is it hard for you not to procrastinate with all that electronic stuff around you?

I just sit on the dining table, I wish I had a study space but my room is basically filled up by my bed and my computer table is taken up by one of our unused plasma tv's.

Cute desks guys. It's cool to see where other people study!
Mines a lot more crowded, usually I move some stuff off when I'm trying to do some serious study ;)
But you know I've got the typical clock, books, ipad, pencil case, photo frame and other little random things including a flower pot (dont judge) :P
Oh and there's that annoying chip in the middle of the desk, blame the removal people  >:(
