Class of 2013: Section Zero UMAT Training Thread

Since I assume many people in the Class of 2013 will be sitting the UMAT this year, I thought it might be a good idea if we work together in our training for the real UMAT come July. Feel free to discuss your training plans and how you've been going in your practice.

I'm only sitting the UMAT for one course so I'm probably not going to be as keen as the rest of you lot. I intend to just spend a couple of hours each weekend working through Section Zero for the next few months.

I just did my first Section 1 Exam and got 15/24. I don't know if that's any good or not, especially since I took an hour to do that. :P

The score is ok I guess, it's early days. But the timing needs a bit of work :P

I found that my biggest problem was that I was reading the question too quickly, wasted time trying to work out the answer and then went back and carefully read the question and managed to find the answer relatively quickly. I also understand where I went wrong so that's good.

You have to start somewhere, I guess! :/

Gah: what's really annoying is that my UMAT scores are like 3 steps forward and 400000000 steps back :(

Great idea stick! I'll post my scores as soon as I do some trial exams. Also, are any of you going to the tutoring of section zero?

What's the course you wanna get into, stick?


I'm thinking Dentistry at the moment, but I'm sitting it for Monash MBBS just in case. :)

Excellent start looking at the raw score. Was there a percentile given at all?

Percentiles/the other stuff are for after beta

Incidentally, the SectionZero subforum might be a better place to have threads with questions etc.

Nah, I'm not doing tutoring or any other preparation apart from Section Zero. As I said, I'm only sitting this for one course just in case so I'm not going to go nuts for it.

I worked out 15/24 as a decimal and multiplied that by 44. :)
