(The following is something me, pi and Steph243 put together)
ATARNotes has come a long way over the past 5 or so years, changing names from FreeStudyNotes, to VCENotes and finally to ATARNotes. We've seen many people come and go, whilst many have also stayed to help out the next generation of VCE graduates before drifting away into the abyss, while many others still haven't left.
We've been there for each other when some of us needed it most, and the community is well regarded for its supportive and encouraging atmosphere. There's been the odd bunch here and there, but in its resilience, the community has always moved on from them as it grows and grows to newer and more exciting heights. Such heights include the introduction of a series of study guides aimed at helping the community at large, a UMAT prep course, and the vast expansion of the forum into other states.
We've had many notable members over the years, with our most senior admins enwiabe taking on the big trolls and ninwa "accidentally" deleting her account at one stage... Without meaning to forget anyone, some of our older members: Mao, Ahmad, Eriny, Shinny, Fyrefly, excal, Gloamy, TrueTears, cara.mel and the many others who have put in countless hours of efforts to help the community have shaped this forum for the better, and we are very thankful for that.
We hope that newer grads will continue this amazing work and guide the forum to even greater successes.
Through my own personal experiences, AN has always been there for me and as we look to the future, we hope to ensure that AN has only taken steps forward.
We can always count on Thush, Aurelian and Mao to tackle the most obscure of chem problems. We can always count on TrueTears, brightsky, Phy, polar and CTH to tackle the most sinister of integrals (I like to think I help here too haha). We can always count on Russ, Gloamy, enwiabe, taiga and Kingpomba to guide our decisions in uni. We can always count on Brenden, EZ and VivaTequila to mark our essays. We can always count on Furbob, ninwa and Fyrefly to get the LOTE boards moving. We can always count on huss, excal and laseredd to decode our IT issues. We can always count on BS and epl to help out the commerce kids. We can always count on the folk in IRC to make us smile. We can always count on the Class of 2013 to keep their thread going. And finally, we can always count on pi to provide us with his view on VCE physics.
And that's the strength of AN: we can count on it being there for us, all the time. That’s what makes a great community, and that’s what makes this community. And I’m proud to be part of it.
Over the years, AN's member base has grown. It’s grown proportionally with the amount of quality help, with the number of notes, with the number of posts, and with the length of enwiabe’s beard.
As of January 12, 2013, 03:34:51 AM we've just hit 50,000 (current) members!
EDIT: Ok I accidentally cleared the place where I upped the image, so its gone... so heres XKCD instead!
We will continue to grow, and continue to keep trying our hardest, and let’s hope the future years are as good as the last five!
