hey guys,
i wanted your advice on the following
-should i write my own summary of the book first or should i get into writing the essays? (i have already read text guides)
-if essays, then should i just start of by writing the main points for all the prompts and quotes etc. that i will use or do it in SAC conditions?
also if i have just read the text guides and textbooks what should i do now?

A logical next step would be to read past VCAA exam Assessors Reports.
This is useful for a few reasons:
1) if the text has been studied in previous years, you will get an idea about the type of prompt you will be dealing with. You will also get insight into the major themes, characters etc
2) you will get an appreciation of the standard you need to reach and what the VCAA Assessors are looking for.
Once you have done this, you can start practicing on essay prompts.
At this early stage concentrate mainly on ideas and the discovery of relevant passages and quotes to support your ideas. Get into the habit of recording ideas for later use (particularly if the ideas are strong and original).
When you get to this point (ie enough insight and ideas about the text/context) you can start studying the technical aspects of essay writing, ie standard introduction/conclusion techniques, constructing paragraphs etc
