I hear kids have pretty much finished 3/4 of the course, and it's getting me paranoid. Out of curiosity, do I still have a chance? .___.

You have every chance. You need to pace yourself throughout the year. Yes they have a headstart on you now but some of those kids will burn out sometime throughout the year  - it happens to everyone.
as long as you work steadily throughout the year and do all the extra work that is required you have just as much chance as they.

It is certainly possible; I didn't do overly much work in the summer holidays leading up to VCE.

Obviously, you should be doing any work assigned to you by your teachers. If they haven't assigned you any work for whatever reason, send them an email asking for a light amount of work to get your brain into gear for the year ahead, or to build up confidence in a subject that you might find difficult.

It's good to do as much work as you can during the holidays, but only as much as suits you. Some people evidently can work their way through much of their 3/4 course, while others might settle for, for example, an essay every week or two. It all depends on what you're comfortable doing, but you shouldn't be doing nothing.

Michak is right; the most important thing to do is ensure that you don't 'burn out'; otherwise you run the risk of damaging both your academic studies and your health.

Best of luck for the year ahead!

If this is getting you paranoid, what's stopping you from starting now?
You still have a few weeks before school starts.

Dude, relax. Some people learn in layers (they finish the course, then go over it again, then go over it again). It's not so much about being ahead as much as it is about understanding and being able to solve the problems when SACs and the exam came.

When I did English Language, most of the content I learnt throughout the year - I didn't finish the whole course before school started. Same went for Bio or Physics - I couldn't do a single exam until we finished the course in class. Relax mate.

Yes you have a chance, there have been people who got 90+ without doing much on holidays so just chill out, steady yourself and you should be fine to do well :)

It all comes down to how you perform in your sacs and final exams - sometimes even students who've 'learnt 3/4 of the course' early still get bogged down on the sac/exam day. Work consistently, don't make yourself anxious all the time and complete a lot of practice materials and there's really nothing stopping you from getting a 95+ I think :) :)

I haven't had the experience of doing year 12 and getting an atar, but I did nothing at all during the holidays for my 2 3/4s last year (and changed into one of them a few days after school started) and I'm really happy with my scores. I also did almost no study for both in the six weeks before exams. It definitely comes down to how you study throughout the year.

You'll probably do better anyway, because you're refreshed, rested up and ready (wow love the alliteration) :)
I did work in the holidays, then bummed around for most of the year (due to being tired of working after the holidays, as well as other stuff that happened) and resulted in pretty dodgy sac marks. Honestly, I didn't finish my textbook stuff, any worksheets or whatever... the list goes on.
Come pre-exam time, I did heaps of papers and really put my heart into doing well. I still didn't do that many (maybe around 15 or so per subject?), but tried to learn from my mistakes and all.
I ended up getting decent study scores (shocked me).
So no it's not too late.
It's never too late.
Not until after your exam.

Please try and view this for what it is, which is my recollection of what I did prior to Year 12 starting, and not any sort of bragging.
I did very little during the holidays aside from my 6 week exchange to France.
no English, no Methods, no formal work for French, maybe 4 hours of translating for Latin, no new work for Chem but I did type up my 1/2 notes; before Psych in Year 11, I read through research methods.

In my view, so long as you are completely comfortable with the work you did in Year 11 in your 1/2 subjects, Year 12 is all about working well throughout the school year, not before the school year.

I did only 5 subjects and started caring (with caring I mean doing stuff outside of school) about VCE abit less than a month prior to my mid-year exams and was fairly dedicated from there on.
Still got 97+, so yeah don't worry too much if you're not going for the .95, but well I wish I would've cared about my subjects especially English freakin A for SACs

You can still get 99.95 if you don't work in the break. Trust me, many people have done it!

You do not need to work during the summer holidays (reading English texts is a good idea however) to get a good score.
