Help needed !

I got 1 offer at swinburne university for biomedical engineering which was my 2nd preference. I wanted to get into mechanical engineering, which was unfortunately my 3rd preference. Should I wait for 2nd offers or just take up the offer and transfer ? I'm really worried about not being able to go to a university next year and I am really unsure of what to do.

Accept your offer, you don't want to end up offer-less. Call up Swinburne and see what they say. Since you're wanting to get into a lower preference, you might want to look into negotiated offers. Second round offers are for preferences that were higher than what you got.

If you do get another offer then you can withdraw from this first offer that you've accepted. Another option might be to transfer mid-year or at the end of the year (again call up Swinburne and see what the process for that is).
