Another one of those GAMSAT questions

I've asked a questions similar to this before in regards to physics knowledge for the GAMSAT.

My timetable has sort of changed to the point where i'd probably have to overload in first semester of my second year at melbourne. However, I was thinking maybe I should drop physics completely.

Anyway, my question is:

Do you think i'd be able to survive the physics component of the GAMSAT if I attended the physics fundamentals lectures at the uni, and bought the tutorial book (i.e. not enrolling in the subject)?

Yeah I guess that would be sufficient. If you're preparing for next year or something.

Yeah that's fine. Good luck following through with it. I was thinking of doing the same thing when I was in second year but all my subjects clashed with physics so I didn't do it in the end.

Yep, that's a good idea I think, just incase it were to harm your GPA!

Generally though, physics lecturers are pretty lousy (the ones we had anyway), I learned a lot more from just the textbook itself.

I would recommend going to a few of the lectures and seeing if you're learning anything, if not, then just concentrate on going through the College Physics textbook..

Fundamentals is so bad, just buy the textbook and devote the time you would spend in the lectures to reading it.  Trust me!

That's what I was thinking. Except I don't know if you still need the subject for optometry.. I guess i'll have to send an email to the graduate school of science.

Based on the GEMSAS pdf files it states:

three subjects at second or third year level (or equivalent) from one or more relevant biological science disciplines.3
From this:
graduate.science.unimelb.edu.au/downloads/OD-prereqs.pdf

It's alot more flexible now. Mathematical based subjects and Physics are highly recommended but not compulsory.

I was under the impression that you have to do one physics subject for optometry but maybe i'm wrong :S

EDIT: i think they changed it or something.
