Everyone has different approaches, and there isn't one way of doing it. Personally, I'd just tell them exactly how I feel, and keep it simple so they don't misunderstand. I might even give an explanation as to why I feel that way.

It's rather amusing when you don't even have to say due to a group of matchmaking cupids-in-waiting that are your closest friends. Downside to this though is they are always asking questions about how things are going! The simple answer is good :p

I did it through facebook beacuse i was too chicken to say it to his face. It took me ages to work up to doing it and was on the edge waiting for a response. Unfortunately he didn't feel the same, but he was nice about it and it was a good learning curve, if anything. Feel way more confident now!

Do it in a way that they would appreciate; also a way that doesn't make them feel awkward (good if they don't feel the same way as you do good if they do).

Invite them out for a nice dinner.

Drive to their place and pick them up.

Start driving towards a restaurant on the "outside of town"

Drive for a good 45 minutes turning every so often to make it a surprise about where you're actually going

Lock the doors.

Confess to her that the restaurant doesn't exist

Tell her you love her and that you want to be with her forever

Pull over.

Get gun out from under drivers seat

Murder suicide.

Fin.
