how do derived scores work?

so i have school soon, and im doing 3/4 psych, for at least the first term i will be in and out of hosp with procedures/tests frequently, and i wont be able to eat solid food for ages(late feb/march, hopefully sooner), and the doctors have said they have no problem giving a certificate for this sort of thing when the time comes, but all me and my parents research on derived scores only applies for the end of year exam, is there anything for students like me who will be at a disadvantage during the year, and not be able to study properly/sit some sac's? its all really confusing,
anyway thanks in advance

Hey! To the best of my knowledge, you wouldn't get a derived score for your exam but might be able to get Special Consideration in the form of rest breaks during the exam itself etc. I assume your school would use discretion to allow you some help/assistance during SACS too.
Also, when the time comes for you in Year 12 to apply for Uni (if you want), you can make VTAC aware of your disadvantage through the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) http://www.vtac.edu.au/who/seas.html.

I'm not an expert, ask your careers advisor if you have one at school or VCE co ordinator.

Maybe someone else will know more.

Good luck with everything though!! :D
