- Lectures arnt compulsory right? So should I put them in the afternoon after tutorials and workshops in case I want to go home early and study...is this a good idea?
Hell no! Some subjects will have compulsory tutorials participation so you have to turn up to 80% of them or whatever. You can leave early if you want, no one is stopping you. But I'd recommend you show up to lectures unless you pay no attention at all. I've found that I usually go on autopilot mode when I watch lectures online. Watching lectures online has benefits and disadvantages, but I still think it's
I think you might of misread, I was talking about lectures not tutorials. I wouldn't miss any tutorials but I might skip a lecture and watch it at home instead if I'm feeling tired after a prac or something

But normally, I like to have tutes/pracs/labs at the start of the week so you review work you've done in the previous week while it's still semi fresh.

It might be different for commerce, but I found that for my first year in science they would review the current week's work as opposed to the previous so I kept my tutes at the end of the week

Yeah you can skip it if you want, but it might not be recorded so check first!

Ah ok, yeah all my commerce and math units so far have been: review content from previous week's lectures. So it might be different for science/biomed.

Census date I believe. But get in early, so you don't get crappy times!

Generating a clash free timetable defaults you into the empty classes iirc, which are generally more undesirable
What if I generate it at 9:01 am where everything should be theoretically empty?

How fast do Intro to Micro and Principles of Business Law fill out? I want to do them in semesters 2 and 1 respectively but I can't actually enrol until I get my second round offer so I'm scared I wont get optimal timings :(

They will not become full.  There is no quota.  You will be allowed to enrol but if you're asking how fast the classes will become full, within 24 hours.  The university will put more classes up if there is demand for them (ie more people enrol after they get their offer, like you!).

Btw, tip for anyone doing Commerce subjects such as Intro Micro and Finance: When selecting a tute on the portal (on the 4th of February) make sure you note the location of the tute options (often there's a few at the same time) and select one that is close to the centre of the uni - NOT in the Spot. The majority of tutes are in the Spot - and most students in these subjects don't really pay attention to details such as tute locations. Principally this is because they don't know the campus well enough yet.

The Spot is very far from most other buildings on campus - for instance, it is nearly a kilometre from the north-east corner of the uni to the Spot.

Then again, if it's your first class of the day you can take the tram up Elizabeth St and get off at Haymarket (just short of the giant roundabout).

Hey guys i was wondering if you have to schedule every required class on your timetable

e.g I'm planning to choose "UNIB10009 Food for a Healthy Planet" for my breadth which requires 2 x 1 hour lectures per week, however one of the lectures clashes with my other subjects. Can i just leave it off the timetable? and watch it on lectopia or is it required that i schedule it on my timetable?

(sorry if that sounded confusing!)

It'll be put on your timetable in the same timeslot as the other lecture, it's just up to you as to which one you attend

Oh so when timetabling we're able to put more than one classes in the same time slot?
