Has there been a thread discussing how much we've been studying these holidays?

What I did is, at the start of the holidays, I planned out what I was going to accomplish during the holiday break. I've also been setting things I'd like done within 3 days so I can give myself room for other things like going out and stuff.

But I think for the holidays, it's best to decide exactly what you'd like done by the 14th (or whenever you start), and then break it into little segments from there. Because, that way, no matter how long or short you spend on studying each day, you can always look at the bigger picture, that is, your goal for the holidays, and know that you are on track to achieving them.

Of course if you find that you're completing far more than you planned, push yourself? :)

I'm going well with my study these holidays. Like you, I made a checklist of what I wanted done and I've been trying to get through it at a fairly brisk pace. Once that's done, I really need to concentrate on English - my text response SAC is in three weeks and I haven't even written one essay yet. I'm hoping that I'll get all my Biology, Chemistry, Methods and Specialist homework done by tomorrow so that I give myself a week and a half of solid English practice. I also intend to do some extra Biology revision as well, if I get extra time.

I received a mountain load of work myself, during these holidays. All of my teachers, expect us to be up-to-date and go ahead with coursework. Furthermore, they have all given us a mountain load of work to get through; for an example, my chemistry teacher gave us no explicit work besides two practice exams but during the last chem lesson he went from organic pathways to fats, so there is about 3 chapters + worth of work to get through. I just think, move at the pace you're comfortable with, I know I have this work which I will complete; however, I will only go ahead to a point where I feel comfortable. I have only taken two days off these holidays (obviously I don't study like 10 hours a day :P) but I still have that much work remaining it's not even funny. I think correct the things first and work on your mistakes, no point going so far ahead when your basis may be weak (if it is). Once that's done, move ahead. Working at your own pace is the way to go, I think - as long as you're not behind in classwork!

Woahh! School hasnt given us much homework ! Like for methods , finish off the chapter reviews and exercises. And do bound notes for the topics covered so far. For chem , our first SAC is next week! PRACTICE EXAMS , already? WOAHH.  :( :( :( LOL. For Health, just memorise the functions of nutrients . For Eng Lang , write an essay and read a few pages of the book. It's preetty laid back atm. I dont know what they expect us to do , because I wouldve expected waaay more homework!

Yeah I actually got literally no homework.
English = Do some questions in a book
Maths = Chapter 7 in textbook
P.E = Do 5 questions (lol)
Business = A 10 page workbook
I.T = None?

You lucky lucky people...

English: Write language analysis essays, complete the oral and read and annotate how whole text (I started that much earlier so glad that I did).
Methods: Complete a practice exam, work on several exercises and another practice exam.
Chemistry: Two practice exams, begin to look at SAC 2 (synthesis of aspirin) also be up-to-date with organic chemistry (we literally went through about 4 chapters in the course of two weeks or less so very briefly, so know I have to go and study it in detail myself).
Physics: Complete practice exam questions, be up-to-date and understand electricity.
Business: Complete the rest of AOS 2 by ourselves.

I don't know, I am feeling the heat I must say. There is just so much to do and not a lot of time to do it. That's why I kind of block it out and work at a pace I am comfortable with. To be honest I have been going over some term 1 stuff, I see no point in going so far ahead but barely knowing what I am doing. I would rather go at a pace where I actually throughly understand what I am doing.

I agree I don't understand how people get on top of all their work, I think I need to schedule more time for studying.

I think the holidays are a great time to get on top of it and stay a tad bit ahead. It allows you some breathing space; for me term 2 is just full of sacs (about 1-2 every week, I think I have a week or two where there is none) however it becomes obnoxious at times with the amount of workload. It's just difficult at times to understand why there is so much. Don't get me wrong I advocate staying ahead to save time at the end of the year for exam revision. However, when you're getting dumped with so much work and then moving so quickly through course content it becomes a challenge in itself to stay up-to-date let alone get ahead. I like the holidays because I can catch up and somehow get ahead! :P

At this stage I've already resolved to the fact that I won't get all the tasks done. Although, I probably did the absolute maximum, compared to what was actually required.

As long as you gave it your 100% Stick, that's what matters! Sometimes I feel I am swimming in work haha, but doing it in chunks and breaking it down helps get it down, as effectively and efficiently as possible I find!  :)

I just bite off way more than I can chew. :P My parents forced me to take half of today off - they confiscated my books! It probably was the wake up call I needed though.

My year 12 life so far summed up right there. :/ I was slightly hoping that these holidays would be my chance to get back into the 'year 12' mindset, by trying to study hard and get ahead, but this, unfortunately, hasn't happened so far. :/

If you guys did a year 12 subject last year just remind yourself of the satisfaction of knowing you gave your 100%, it helps! Don't think it's too late, you guys can do this. Drink some quality coffee (if you can tolerate it), listen to some nice French music and let your mind be free!
Helps me with Methods and Chemistry. You'd be surprised what you can write when French music is enticing your ears, and the coffee makes it fun. My room has a permanent smell of cologne and coffee beans, I like it. Anyway back to the topic you guys can do this, just try finding something you enjoy in each subject!
