My last parent teacher interview was when I was in Year 7.

Teacher said I was doing pretty well and she was happy. However, when I got home I got a real tongue-lashing from my parents for not being top of the class (they were peeking at what my classmates got in their lab reports for science and saw that I wasn't top of the class) and kept comparing me to this guy who had a scholarship.

Wow. That's not very nice. At least you got through it all :D

wow that must have been difficult on you :S its important to note that intrinsic learning is always more enjoyable and effective over extrinsic learning, where scolding is used as punishment... i hope thats still not happening now is it?

Lol - yeah my thoughts exactly, but I suppose my school has reasons for making it this early.

But I don't mind at all!  :P

My school had a combined formal/valedictory, and  they held it on like... the 21st of October. It was terribly fucking inconvenient.

Mine's in less than 2 weeks, and I thought I was bad for not getting a dress!   :P

I think I'm too picky...
Ah, well.
I'd rather concentrate on getting a good sac score first...then I'll hunt for a dress

Oh woah. I was in a similar sitiuation as you, McFleurry , during year 11 formal.
A lot of girls bought their dresses over the summer holidays! :O It's crazy. I think our theme is going to be a masquerade !
I'll go look for one during term 2 holidays ! :)

:( That's be so fun! We don't have a theme, which is a shame.

But then again, if a theme was safari, think of all those leopard print dresses *shudder*

Same suit as last year, maybe I'll get it altered. Maybe a pink shirt. Done.

I know right!! It's blue - turquoise to be specific  :P

Ironic - John Monash has ALREADY had THEIR formal? (if you get my gist here! haha)

My formal was at that time last year as well, actually - smackbang in the thick of winter  :D

My school had a combined formal/valedictory, and  they held it on like... the 21st of October. It was terribly fucking inconvenient.

Were parents there? That would have certainly detracted from the 'formal' atmosphere...

This is actually really funny because my mum was just saying that the guys don't have much choice about what to wear! It's pretty much the 'tux saves all' kind of thing for you poor boys  :P
