I'm reading Years of Wonders and have heaps of quotes but not sure which ones to remember nor how to remember them!

Anyone have tips or strategies to help?

That's why I wrote about twelve angry men in the exam. Break up the themes and memorise the quotes accordingly. I can't remember any quotes for yow but I still do remember the quotes of twelve angry men and the movie is a great factor here

Likewise. I never bothered learning many quotes for Year of Wonders. I just read notes downloaded from this website (thanks Kazdawg) for a few days before the SAC for quotes. Totally ditched it in the exam. Would recommend. Lol.
You could try finding the quotes you want to learn and look/say/cover/write/check.

Generally the best way to remember quotes is to use them.

Yeah that's actually a great point, the more you write essays with YoW in front of you, the more quotes will start reoccuring and you'll remember them much easier than rote learning.

thats why its awesome to write on an anthology like Interpreter of Maladies.
I studied only 3 of the 9 short stories, which was indeed a risk, but I only needed to memorize a third of the quotes. But well, it payed of very, very well haha

Also, I liked to memorize quotes together with their meaning and not just by themselves.

1. make a powerpoint with the quotes
2. colour code for different themes
3. laminate or put in plastic pockets
4. blu tack them to the tiles of your shower, around your room, on the back of the toilet door, pretty much anywhere you will see them.
5. whenever you see one, say it out loud to yourself over and over again.
6. repeat many many times.
7. once you're beginning to learn them, set a timer for 5 minutes and write as many as you can remember in correct context

and before you know it, you'll know so many quotes! sure i am only in year 11 this year but i did this for both year 10 english exams last year and i remembered in excess of 60+ quotes for each text

I remembered lots of quotes for Religion & Society. As stated above, just use it often in your responses :)

Also, I tend to just test myself by looking away from my notes. Colour/highlighting also helps.
2012: religion & society
2013: english / health & human dev / chemistry / methods / further
2014: arts/business @ monash

I'm a bit of a dramatist, I like to act out the quotes and/or read them with impressions of the character (if possible). Hope that helps.
