How to improve expression?

Hey all,
Idk if this is/was a problem for other students, but something that tends to hold me back from getting full marks/close to full marks in my essays is my expression! This is usually only in parts of my essays, not throughout and I'm not sure what to do to work on this because it's really frustrating getting back an essay only to see that the only thing limiting me from a full mark is my expression!

So what can i do to improve my expression?? Any advice would be much appreciated :D

Thanks!

Yeah i have the same problem
Apparently within my sentences there are things that don't need to be there, and if they were removed it would be more fluent and still convey the same message sometimes better. So what I'm trying to do now is write an essay as I usually would, once its done, I'd read each sentence and see if I can cut it down or make it more concise. Having done that, I think it will be a habit in which i can use in writing the first time
I am Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi to Drogo's riders, and queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros

Read as much as you can. Specifically broadsheet newspapers. I also found keeping a blog through Year 12 helped me with my expression as I had to find ways to articulate things that I had never articulated before as sporadic/different thoughts/feelings cropped up.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Read stuff from http://www.thepunch.com.au/. It's a great website for picking up on quality English expression. The authors here are amazing.

I don't think anybody reads this for the issues themselves. I know I only flick through the site when I want a chuckle from some witty author.

theconversation.edu.au is pretty similar to that website.

The only thing that I can say is really to read and read widely and critique other people's work. Cut unnecessary sentences and when needed, use pronouns to avoid repeating words. And oh, write, critique your work and rework it. It's not an easy process but good luck :)

A sure fire way to learn the process of getting better marks is to edit your already written essays until they DO get full marks. Each time, ask your teacher/tutor/mentor what is holding you back, go and endeavour to fix it, and then find out again what is holding you back.
