Just discovered I have 10 sacs for Bio. :(

Throughout the year I have 10 sacs. This is the opposite of motivation.
Even though frequent sac's could split the topics up into pinpoint sacs it just seems highly irritating.
Biology is not my strongest subject. I know I'm whining but.... 10 sacs. More than english ffs.....
I'd much prefer having 5-8 sac's so I can allocate a lot of time to Biology and really focus on bigger sacs instead of frequent smaller sacs...
Anyone else have 10 sacs?

YES - I thought I was the only one who had 10 SACs. 5 for unit 3 and 5 for unit 4. Oh well, I guess its the teachers' way of ensuring the SAC ranking is 100% accurate; it also gives you the chance to (not advocating anything) screw up in one sac and sort of be redeemed in the others. :)

SACs have to follow the study design, IIRC. They might be multi-part, though.

it might be irritating, but look on the bright side. having numerous sacs does alleviate the pressure of ranking as Yacoubb said :D it gives you more opportunities to prove yourself also :)

I also have ten SACs. It's actually a very good thing - it means that each individual SAC matters less, covers less material (albeit in more depth) and hence allows you to recover from a poor result more easily. Last year for Further there was only four so each one counted for a significant amount. One was also a week long and that nearly broke me.

I think everyone has the same number. Shouldn't lose motivation if that's the case imo, chin up :)

Its a good thing in my opinion. Its much more relieving for Bio than Further; I have 5 SACs in quite a competitive class.. but nevertheless, I'm glad the CORE sac is made up of 2 SACs. My first SAC is on Wednesday and is for univariate data, and the second SAC is for bivariate data (excl.) time series data.

Officially, you're supposed to have 6 SACs over the year for bio.

For those who have 10 - a couple of SACs may be split into multiple parts (which is not bad, because it means that each SAC wouldn't count as much).

Put it this way, imagine having ONE SAC that counts for 100% of your SAC score :/

Aka the exam :D

I'd much prefer a greater amount of SACs, for the reasons outlined by everyone else!

Atleast this way your exam notes will be completed a lot faster!

Keep your study notes that you make for each sac and hypothetically speaking it should almost cover everything you need to know for the exam.

Goodluck!

Yeah, I've got 10 as well. 6 of them are pracs which I am not so keen on.
Our first SAC will be done over 4 days or parts of those lessons in those 4 days. First is planning, then do the experiment, then collect the data then write up.

Do you guys have to design parts of your pracs?

designing your own pracs? Ive never heard of that. its not done at my school (to what I know). At least you'll get some added practise with experimental design questions

not the whole prac but for example the teachers give us everything but the method and we have to make a method - how to do the prac and how to use the materials

I'm not quite sure if the format completely applies to all schools, however, I believe that the SACs I will have will be to write up a complete prac report, where results + discussion sections will predominantly assess all the theoretical aspects investigated in the prac. My teacher will probably become more specific towards the date of the SAC, which I will be having on the 4th March :)
