Using the insight notes

If I use a copious amount of the ideas and notes from the inisight book, would it be frowned upon by the teachers and would I get a lower mark or if I was to conjure my own ideas and use them in my text response, would I get a higher mark?

By the way, I'm studying Things We Didn't See Coming.

It would depend how much they know the study guide. If they have read it well and it just seems liek you have reguritated someone else's work, you would probs get a lower mark.
I have always been told to try and come up with your own interpretations. as long as you can show evidence with some weight behind it you cant be told you are wrong.

Just think about your teacher and examnier has read every kind of essay there is and probably knows all the generic interpretations. If you provided a new one its a change and probaby would be preferred.

Guaranteed there are other people in the state who will do exactly what you're suggesting. If that's the case, then that's not the path to getting a good mark.

id definitely recommend against solely using insight notes/study guides in general for english (Except, Liz Fear's book on Language Analysis is a gold mine, i recommend it). They are very generic, and as rohit said, a lot of students and teachers will use them.

Look through them just to gain some other perspectives if you want, but I think most study guides for english are useless especially when compared to original discussion you can have with teachers/students/tutors/AN.

I also wouldn't recommend you solely use the study guide. Make your own insights (pun intended) about the text as those are the ones that will interest you and be able to write passionately about. Many people make English boring by placing themselves in a cage with limited ideas- learn to explore and delve as then not only will your SS be great the subject will be great as well. The one good thing about the study guide though that you can get nice vocab from it. Also try to develop your own ideas first before you read the study guide.
