Hey y'all.

For those that are studying the epilogue 'Dear America' I thought it would be handy to start a forum that allowed people to write about the techniques used and notions that gathered from it whilst backing it up with solid quotations.

I hope this works.

Bernard Edelman uses a strong contrast of chapters between 'Beyond the body count' and 'Base camp: War at the rear'.

'Beyond the body count' evokes feelings of 'sadness' and 'grief' for the soldiers as they struggle with their emotions before our feelings are swiftly turned to anger and frustration as we read from the chapter 'Base camp: War at the rear' the petty problems of the 'pencil pushers' like “Boy am I pissed off! This damned place is getting unbearable. We have had our hours increased-now we work 6:45 am-5pm”. It is because they have no grip upon what is tough in the military life.
