Who's going to be working during uni?

hey guys,

So at the moment I have 2 jobs, working around 16 hrs per week. Will it be okay to continue working during uni, as I am aiming fairly high?

What are your experiences of working during uni?

I have two jobs as well and was considering dropping one but not quite sure if i should.

Depends on what courses you are doing and how involving your job is mentally, physically and time-wise.

not hard to manage uni and a job at the same time, should be fine as long as your timetable accommodates for it

once my timetable gets finalised i'll go job hunting. ill probably move out once i find a job, as i cbf travelling 1.5hrs a day to get to uni.

If you want to be self sufficient and independent then you'll want a job. It gives you so many options, it may be stressful but it'll be worth it.

You may struggle to find a job to begin with, it'll give you time to settle in with travelling :p it's painful but you'll live.

I've worked about 20 hours per week (if you count travel time) since 2nd year, it's worth it for the boost it'll give to your resume

If you're doing something with heavy contact hours (Science / Engineering which has ~20-24 contact hours per week depending on your year level), it's going to be harder to find the time to do a lot of hours of work compared to a B.Comm with 12 hours per week.

This. To OP, I'd say see how you go with your current work hours for the first couple of weeks. If it gets too intense then ask if the two jobs can be more flexible with hours (that way you would be able to keep both for holidays), or the alternative is letting one go. Of course it depends on how well you are able to organise yourself with time-management etc.
