Do labs go on for longer than three hours? That's what I've heard from others...  :(
I always look a little lost.

According to the handbook:

Quote
Contact hours
Three 1-hour lectures and one 3-hour practical/tutorial/self-directed learning exercise per week

Though they might run over time?

I did that subject, no, not usually. What made you suspect they would?

Remember, tutors only really get paid for the 3 hours they're with you in the lab. As far as i know, if the lab runs over, they don't really get overtime. They probably have stuff to do as well so its not like they want to hang around.

Very rarely, it might run a bit over for one reason or another but it probably won't be over 10-20 minutes. In-fact, quite a few times it finished rather early.

Ah, OK. My bio labs went over three hours not infrequently, but that was more to do with my sloooooooooooooow working pace than the work set.

I heard from the same people that on most weeks biochem students have to come back and continue their lab work on the weekends! Maybe they were saying that just to scare us?  :'(

Thanks for answering. The thought of four-hour labs terrifies me...
