How'd everyone go in SAC1?

90% for me so pretty happy I grabbed an A+ to start the economics year of with. Feel as though I made a few silly mistakes in some short answer questions which made me lose a few marks but I actually was expecting to get lower based on the tone of the teacher when they handed the SAC back to me haha.

Anyway. How'd everyone go?

Really bad! Our class high was 28/40. I'm ranked 2/3 with 23/40.

Reasons why?
- 1st year graduate teacher, bad english, from Victoria University.
- He bought the SAC's from a very dodgy company or individual.
- When he marked, he tried to give his opinion on the question and said you need to back up 'his' opinion, where we answered the question near correct with sufficient evidence.

Last year, our class average was 80-85%. I don't see where this has went wrong :I

That's terrible. A teacher definitely shouldn't be marking based on their opinion. They should mark based on the quality and relevance of the response to the question. Maybe you should try talking to the teacher about their marking and if that fails take it to someone higher up in the school like VCE coordinator or year level coordinator.

You should be able to get a second opinion on the marks if you ask and have a case for it.

Maybe you might want to upload it and we can critique it?

That would be a good idea if he is comfortable with it.

Your teacher should have cross-marked the SACs to get a second opinion, whether it is with another economics teacher or with another school's economic teacher.

On topic though, I received 39/40 for my first sac (lost a mark on a multiple choice answer which I knew the solution to) and too timid to bother my teacher about my second sac though I hopefully aced it this time.
Starting macroeconomics now. It's going to be so fun.

I wouldn't mind actually uploading my SAC up, but he keeps them, apparently the school has to have them with them incase VCAA come in and want to have a look or something, I really don't know.

The thing with him also, is that he's very insensitive. His teaching method is to be honest, CRAP. He gives us irrelevant information all the time, and we've spoken to our VCE co-ordinator about it and he even reckons this teacher is no good. Our Yr 11 Economics teacher was a really good teacher, though she left after being at the school for 1 year. But this guy, I can tell you all the teachers believe he's not worth it.

1st Year Uni grad, teaching Yr 12 Economics. Our school's just lost it -_-

In the grand scheme of things, it shouldn't matter to much, as long as you're ranked fairly high in the class (which you clearly are). The two people above should be of the same level of knowledge as you. Remember, SACs are only relevant so far as they rank you in relation to your class. Your actual mark is completely irrelevant - you could have got 51% in the SAC, and if you're still ranked 2-3, it would be the exact same.

Macro is so much fun!
