I guess it will just be Andy doing Further Maths in 08?, and yes guys, when i mentioned motivation...i was implying odette's posts. I have wrote this somewhere else before, but while im here i might aswell repeat it:
Further Maths is an Good subject that is quite understandable and, in some areas, easy to pick up. However the most important thing to realise is, you can never to be too smart for it. Many people just decide that they will take it easy in Further until atleast july. Work constantly through out the year, and achive a good understanding in the subject. I would advise that you should finish the course by mid-June to early July. This is the right time, as you can have a two week break- take your mind off the subject, then come back strong and study hard. This puts you into the captain seat as you approach the november exams!

I'm a futher maths 08er too :), it's proabably gonna be my favourite subject, as I've heard it's extremely easy.

And just a quick question, can I use my Methods CAS calculator in the Further Maths Exam? If I can, it seems a little unfair for the Further students coz the CAS calculator has so many more functions.

Yes =)
They're supposed to design the questions in this gap period where people are still using non-cas calculators so that they have no advantage, but of course that can't be avoided and you have a slight advantage :P

hey i did further in 07
my best piece of advice is this
go to your local newsagent or kmart at the start of the year and find an A4 size lined book with as many pages as possible (+128) making sure the book fits the specifications listed on this page= http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/correspondence/memorandums/2007/28.html
leave the first 2 pages blank to do an index. Each time u finish a topic/module and have ur test and application task summarise all ur notes into the book, leaving plenty of space for examples and anything extra you may like to add later when its closer to exam time. You'll b able 2 take this book into both your exams with you, so i strongly suggest adding as much information as you find necessary. i also suggest using highlighters and colour coding pages. seriosly dont leave writing up your summary book 2 the end of the year coz it takes AGES to write if u write it well.

This is excellent advice. In addition to this, an even better approach would be to buy the cheap 1 cent books from Officeworks, and continually write up draft copies throughout the year. As you do more and more past papers, you'll cut out a lot of the irrelevant and straightforward stuff. In the exam, you want a reference book that covers your weaknesses, not everything that you already know!

The best way to go about it, now that I've thought about it a second time, is to do exactly what beezy4eva recommends, and then at the end of the year, you should rewrite it, excluding information that is just so obvious to you by now. Like I said, you want a reference book that covers your weaknesses, not everything you already know.

The important part is that you do not leave it until the end of the year. You should start a reference book as you go through the year. Writing up a final copy at the end of the year is far more different to writing a reference book from scratch at the end of the year.
