Paying after census date

Hey, I'm currently a permanent resident which means I have to pay my fees upfront, although I should become a citizen very early september which is just passed the census date (31st Aug), does anyone know if I could wait a bit after until i'm eligible for HECS help.  It would be 2weeks max as i would happily pay any late payment fees to avoid paying another 4k until i get proper job.

I remember reading that if you aren't eligible for HECS or choose not to fill in your details for HECS and you don't pay your fees by the census date you will be pulled out of all the classes immediately, and you'll have to pay an added fee to be able to re-enrol
