Don't really see a difference in weed and alcohol.

For starters, weed is illegal.
So is underage drinking and that doesn't stop many people.

what do you guys think of smoking weed?

Smoking anything in general is a poor idea. The amount of damage that tar from either cannabis or tobacco does - or can do - to the body is immense. Cannabis presents another potential danger as there is some evidence to show that it can lead to adverse reactions in those individuals predisposed to schizophrenia and other underlying (and overt) psychological conditions.

As an aside - smoking anything is pretty gross in my opinion. I really can't see the appeal.

I see the difference between alcohol consumption and cannabis consumption as being one of a biological nature. The body can adapt to a degree to a fairly large amount of alcohol consumed over time, in that the liver cells develop more Smooth Endoplasmic Reticuli so as to metabolise the ethanol more quickly. However in the case of smoking cannabis (or anything, really). The residue that is inhaled as smoke - which accumulates as tar - cannot be managed effectively by the body and so presents a greater threat.

A bit too far? Could you please elaborate.
Honestly, Alcohol from my own personal experience has caused many more undesirable problems compared with weed.

Good point. But I was talking about my own personal experience.
A majority of my friends have dabbled in both Alcohol and Weed, that being said I've never seen one act of violence from someone who is 'high', however I've seen my Friends increase aggressive behavior when 'drunk'. I've also found at parties, where you may not know everyone, Drunk people want to start fights, where is the 'stoners' would be out the back chatting and relaxing. Anyway, don't take my experience as fact, it's only my observations and they could quite possible be incorrect due to many confounding and extraneous variables.

From personal experience LITERALLY all my friends who have smoked weed either repeated the year or have terrible grades (failing) this is from personal experience. To be honest I believe people should not smoke weed at all because all that de-stressing will be a little too much de-stressing and thus people miss out on the true beauty of life which I still have not discovered since I'm still teenager or something like that. As to alcohol I don't personally consume it and its better since it is integrated into the Australian society.

Yes he most definitely got high.... sorry the brain of mine sees these things and just does its own thing. But yeah i mean not everyone will fail with weed but there's absolutely no need for it recreation-ally. I mean it sort of makes you too chill all the  time. having said that weed does have a lot medical benefits that should be taken advantage of... hemp in particular has great uses it can act as a biofuel.

Most of the pot-smokers that I know of are fairly intelligent people. For example: Carl Sagan.

I know some med students smoke weed, and a pharmacist as well...

Quite a number of people from my school have smoked it before too (I'd say > 1/3)
