Advanced placements

Hey guys,
So currently I do year 11 biology as an advanced placement, but I've decided I wanted to do further as well.

Because it's already term 2, would it possible to just start unit 2 further next semester?
Assuming the coordinators permit it, would it be necessary to do year 10 alongside as I have not done any math beyond what is currently being taught (year 10).

Even if it weren't necessary, wouldn't it be wise, just in case?

Thanks a bunch :)

Each school varies in what they allow their year 10s to pickup/drop, so it'll be best for you to discuss it with your co-ordinator.
If by advance placement you mean units 1/2 of Further, I think they have a cut off date so that you cannot officially enroll into it, but your school may allow you to 'sit in' the class which should prepare you for units 3/4 further in year 11. :)

Yeah thanks for that. It may be too late but I guess I can always just do it unofficially, and then do units 3/4 next year in year 11.

Yeah and don't worry about it too much - as long as you're sitting in you won't actually be missing out on the content (which is what matters) all you'll be missing out on is the official-ness of the two units :)

I think it may be too late, however, what you said before is true. You can do it unofficially and then just pick up units 3/4 in year 11.
It wouldn't differ much whether you did the subject officially and unofficially because I very rarely need the teachers help for further maths, and I'm assuming the same would apply to you. Plus, does anyone even do work in maths class? ^.~

I enrolled into Unit 2 Physics during term 2 in year 10, but it probably does depend on your school.

Doing Unit 2 Further/General Maths and dropping year ten maths - I would advise against it if you're planning on taking up Methods next year, but I'm not very knowledgeable on what is covered in GM.

Do you have to general maths in order to do further?

Your school gets to call the final shot on whether you enter a 3/4 without having done the 1/2, but in most cases yes, because 1/2 is only like a preface to 3/4.
