suggestions for methods tutoring?

So I've started tutoring today. my strategy was teaching the  basics..then solve a question and then let the student solve one. what are your suggestions? thanks

Would depend on the student, but maybe ask what they are struggling if (that is if they are and aren't just getting tutoring to smash methods by a mile) and work on what they are struggling first.
