I just received the letter today. So happy!!! I wasn't sure if I'd be invited since there's a lot of students who get 50 in Further Maths relative to other subjects. A very pleasant surprise indeed.

So is anyone else here invited? :D

It depends. In some subjects, all the students who get a 50 receive one. In others where there is a lot less students, you can achieve lower than 50 and still receive the award. In my subject and a few others, they actually have to dwindle the numbers down somehow. I can't give you a definitive answer.

Nonetheless, congratulations on your amazing achievement! It'll be nice to have a few 2013ers present on the day. :)

I feel like such a cheater, because I got invited for my Ukrainian results, but Ukrainian is probably the smallest study out there, so I feel I got very lucky with the grade distribution, whereas you guys are actually just purely amazing... Oh well, there's the promise of a light lunch, so that should quell my guilt :/ What's the dress code for these types of things?

Thanks, I've never been sure how it works. Congrats to you too! It's probably quite harder to achieve one in Further  so well done! :)

Not at all! You achieved the 50 on your own merits. I'd also argue that Ukrainian is probably a harder subject than Further Maths anyway. Don't feel guilty about succeeding. I'm sure you worked very hard for that result. :)

do you need a raw score of 50 to have a good chance, or would a scaled 50 suffice?

Congratulations everyone :)

Depends on the subject, but usually you need a 50 raw (otherwise it would be unfair for subjects that scale down).

Anyone who's still doing VCE, what did you write for the "please specify details of your activities after VCE" part in the RSVP application? Still in Year 11, so not much I can say..  :-\ Also, loving the intensity of the "strict embargo regarding Premier's Awards winners", so suss.

lol no way! In fact, getting a 50 in such a small study is arguably harder, since you need to do very well throughout the year (I think you have to full mark everything, but I'm not 100% certain on that). To put it into perspective, Latin (which has a pretty small cohort as well) hasn't had a 50 in quite a number of years. Besides, LOTEs are notoriously difficult. Don't feel guilty at all. It's an amazing achievement.

Thanks for the support guys! :) I'm definitely pretty chuffed with the result, but it's hard to believe it was actually me that achieved it... Now I just need to prove to myself that it wasn't a fluke and get over 40s in all my other subjects, fun years ahead  :o
