Can you finish the VCE in year 11?

I'm in year 10. At my school I have started 4 VCE subjects: English, Math Methods, Biology, History and next year (when I am year 11) I will pick up 3/4 I.T Software Development. So I would've completed 5 3/4 subjects. Could I finish high school and go straight to university when I am supposed to be in year 12?

And I could apply to Melbourne, Monash, RMIT with a there being a problem? Of course if I get the required ATAR (Goal is 85)

So you're saying you're in year 10 and doing 1/2 English, methods, bio and history??

So
2013: Unit 1&2 Eng, Unit 1&2 Methods, Unit 1&2 Bio, Unit 1&2 Hist (8 Units)
2014: Unit 3&4 Eng, Unit 3&4 Methods, Unit 3&4 Bio, Unit 3&4 Hist, Unit 3&4 Software Development (10 units)

Well that's 18 units total, at least 4 unit 3/4 sequences including three units of an English subject (two of those units being a 3/4 sequence). By the end of it, you'll have checked all the criteria you need to be awarded your VCE and assuming you get a study score for all your 3/4 subjects (surely), then you're also eligible for an ATAR (even without Software Dev added on, you'd be eligible for both). (http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/pages/faqs/vcecurrentstudents.aspx#H3N10051

There shouldn't be any problems, and I'd be inclined to think that next year you would be considered a Year 12 student by VCAA and VTAC. http://www.vtac.edu.au/applying/need/id.html - "VTAC considers you a current Year 12 student if: you are currently studying VCE ... you were enrolled in at least one Unit 3 and 4 VCE study sequence and did not officially withdraw by [some date]". So you fall under that criteria too.

There shouldn't be any problems for applying to any Australian university. Except for perhaps age requirements for each uni, which I think would mostly be a concern if you'll be 16 years old at the time of enrolling (if everything works out, that'd be January 2015), but check out each uni's policy on those matters.

I think he'd be okay to enroll underage so long as he gets parental permission to use the web-services and things like that (well, he would be find for Monash). I'm also pretty sure there is a person on the forums underage that goes to Melbourne.

Wow your VCE sounds really interesting. Sounds fine, going straight into Uni or something straight after Year 11.

Alternatively, I guess if you want though you could just build on your ATAR that you receive and improve on it in Year 12 with some other 3/4's.

You could also try dux twice if you fancy.
vce:
2013: Further [50] (+Premier's) | Methods [48]
2014: Physics [50] | Specialist | Accounting | English Language || ATAR: 99.70 + Australian Student Prize!
uni:
2015: Bachelor of Commerce and Engineering (Honours)

If you're 16 then Monash requires an ATAR of at least 95 (or approval from the Dean). http://www.monash.edu.au/study/apply/domestic/entry.html If he'll be 17 then he's fine for Monash. RMIT takes anyone 16 and older. Anyway each uni treats it differently, so the simple solution is just for him to look it up (esp. since we don't know what his actual age is).
