That's a huge question mate, narrow it down? Anything specifically particular about S1 or S2 that is bothering you?

ok, with sec 1 : the problem solving part (truth and lies is good) but the other problem solving is annoying
and some logical reasoning. like should i read slower or do something else?

Sec 2 : i can usually narrow it down to two ans but then i get it wrong or they are sooo similar that i am confused

thanks a lot guys :D

Ok

re: S1 problem solving, yeah you need to start drawing out the questions, use tables, pictures, maps, anything - but really the key to solving these questions (when you can't do them in your head - which is most of the time) is to draw them out and flesh out the answer that way.

Alternatively you only have 4 options, so don't forget you could simply substitute any of the 4 options into the question to see if it works (this is how I solve the truth/false questions)

re: S2 - use a dictionary when doing the drills, sure it will inflate your marks, but you will also learn more. Make sure you understand the difference between the two options and then most importantly, ensure you review your mistakes (AND correct answers) thoroughly. Mark all your unsure responses on the drill (you should always be using a piece of paper anyway) and then go back and review them REGARDLESS of whether they were correct or wrong - understand why you got the correct ones correct and the wrong ones wrong  - in the long run this practice should help you establish a better sense of how to crack out the correct answer in those narrow situations.

There's still lots of time - don't get flustered or stressed. I only did actual preparation in less than a month before the UMAT, and still scored a 100 percentile. The first step at this point is to chill out and relax, because you want to do it with a clear mind.

I averaged really low on exams before the actual one, but instead on focusing on my marks I focused on the questions and formulating methods and tactics to help myself in the actual exam. This helps particularly in Section 1, as you can easily convert this section into a VCE-style question, with methods and tactics to learn.

This is the key with Section 1, and how you can improve really quickly. Learn your material before doing the questions. Get yourself a toolbox before attempting the real things, if that makes any sense.

Section 2: notice what your friends are doing if you can, and read emotionally-charged books if you can.

Also note that your overall score is an unweighted average of the 3 sections so really you can do badly in one and still do really well in the end.

Hope that helps :)
